Notice how small the article is. Had this been the opposite, say he wants the players to be paid, it would have been much larger. ESPN doesn't care about guys like this who actually have a problem with the college landscape and raise questions. This guy loses them money.
Initially I thought this "big five" was going to made up of something like 60-70 schools. The evidence of conference shifting supported that. Now, I could see a "big 4" with it being something like 50-60 schools.
Personally, IMO, I don't think that many schools in the Big XII will last in the new landscape. I honestly think that's why Nebraska left. They saw the writing on the wall. It's all about Texas and Oklahoma. Book Texas and Oklahoma for sure, probably Oklahoma State too because of the T. Boone Pickens money, and then Texas Tech and TCU are suck in the middle.
The others are afterthoughts. Kansas, KSU, Baylor and Iowa State just don't have the power that those have. Kansas is a basketball school and it's incredibly hard to compete at high levels on both landscapes. KSU has been good, but what happens when Bill Snyder quits or passes? He's basically Joe Paterno-lite. And lite is not a good thing in KSU's situation. WVU should have never left the AAC/Big East. The travel has to be absolutely killing them, and they should potentially be in the ACC by now. Texas and Oklahoma may as well go independent like Notre Dame and keep the money themselves.
