Decent write up. But not entirely accurate (no one calls the team the big green anymore)

The article also stated this is the last game before another 4 year break in the series.   Not true.   Marshall travels to Ohio next year and then we have the series break. I want to go on record as not being happy about not playing Marshall for 4 years.  Should play every year.  That goes for basketball as well.  Why in the heck did the basketball series end?

I think the original contract wording had language similar to: " if OHIO ever beats
Marshall by a score anywhere close to a 94-57 drubbing, MU has just cause to high-tail it back to Herdington and not resign future contracts". I think....

I agree, this series puts butts in seats at both venues. Stupid not to play it.

I agree. No reason to let that series go a single year not being played. Its a good game between 2 schools that respect one another, and the fan bases can have fun with one another.

As for basketball, I am not sure but I am glad. We are in the gutter right now for sure, herrion buried us. DD is a good coach though by every account, and we all love what he I doing in practices. He weeded out a couple more headaches. He is conditioning their guts out and challenging them. It is no longer acceptable to miss a free throw and not run an offense. Streetball is gone, and as such, so are the undisciplined streetballers that herrion recruited. It will be a couple years, but I hope we resign this game as well.

You guys are by far, our biggest home game, and maybe even game period this year. Looking forward to a packed joan in september.

I'm ok with taking a year or two off occasionally, but 3 in a row takes too much of the momentum. After a 3 year layoff the fans will remember the rivalry but most of the kids in the locker rooms won't have any connection to it. That's too bad. The series doesn't have to be every year though, I'd be ok with a 4 on/1 off type of schedule.

the bball rivalry isn't as intense and isn't as crucial but its still good to have. As long as there isn't more than a 2 or 3 year gap I'm fine with occasional layoffs.

The players will have a connection when a certain bell is in the locker room every day.

Nice write up!  This demonstrates you can't judge the Huntington media by Chuck Landon alone.

Good work...

I agree. This is not much different than what some of our fans might say. Can't really disagree with much here. It's pretty basic, and hits the most obvious points.

Check out the Comments section to be reminded of the Landon influence.

Marshall just kicked their projected starting running back off the team for felony and misdemeanor charges. If they keep that up, we may have a remote chance of beating them. Although that would be unacceptable to say the least.

Last time they had a felon on the team didn't they just play him?

Kevin Grooms was the RB but the Herd faithful seem to think the other 2 backs behind him are much better. They are very explosive guys but look who coaches them so I'm not worried.

Butler is much better. He averaged 8 ypc on 90+ attempts last season. He has always been in docs doghouse though so he ran that turd tali last year, butler had 400 less yards on 200 less carries, its not even close.

However, grooms was clearly the number 2 option, big drop from those 2, to the #3.

We can't lose butler.

It sucks this is a nooner. In Athens last year we had a ruckus group of friends tailgating and having a good time over on Union Street most of the day, met some Marshall fans and all headed into the game.

You have to be a real warrior to even get a buzz by noon.

Any Marshall folks: Do they still allow you to leave at halftime and come back in the stadium? That can make it better... partly...

In two games vs Ohio Butler has 26yds on 6 carries and 2 fumbles, including the kickoff return last year that was recovered by Ohio in the end zone.

He's going to have to step his game up.
