Alright who would everyone play at Kentucky? Would you consider planning to mix them in and out, have a guy and stick with him, or pick one and make him give you a reason to make the switch? Do you keep going down the depth chart and give Callum Wither a chance?

Me personally, I think I would go back to Navarro and hope he learned from those picks. I'd give the graduate/senior a chance to make us a contender, and if/when it becomes clear that isn't happening, I'd turn to the guys who can play for our next year and beyond.

No controversy, it was one bad quarter.

Parker is starting and Polous will likely see some PT as a change of pace.

As it should be. Was encouraged by what I saw from Poulos. VERY small sample size. Poulos is a big dude.

All this talk in modern day football about undermining the confidence of a quarterback if you bench them. Albin talks about a next man up mentality and so it doesn't hurt to remind your starter that the coaching staff is willing to go elsewhere if they are under performing. Navarro was having a rough streak there and Morgan State wasn't really threatening our Defense, so time to put Poulous in to see what he could do. Good plan, in my opinion. No controversy here.

Poulus didn't play well enough to take the job away from Navarro. He did okay, but one TD drive, 2/4 passing and a lost fumble didn't amount to a spectacular effort. Navarro wasn't awful; take away the INTs and he was 12/12. He just had an awful four or five minutes in the 2nd qtr. If he comes out throwing to the wrong jerseys again on Saturday he'll probably have a short afternoon, and then we might have a real QB controversy heading into the Akron game.

I did not hear he was announced as the starter. Nevertheless, I couldn't resist making the juicy subject title. I think we all hope we don't see what happens if he struggles.

Albin did confirm that last night, but Poulos will be available if Navarro has problems it sounds like.

Albin confirmed it last night, but it’s obvious that Poulos will get in if Navarro can’t move the ball consistently

I think we’re gonna see a heavy dose of running to try to grind the game way down regardless of who is taking snaps. Parker makes the most sense in this big of a game, but we can’t have what we had last week.

Looking forward to more Poulus in other games, but this one - Parker’s. He’ll be running all day long.

I hope we get the UK that played USC and not the one that played UGA.

For that exact reason, TUTM is not the answer. That doesn't mean Ohio can't run the ball 40 times, though. They should be mixing up the runs, inside, outside, option, reverses, from double TE sets, from the spread, from motion sets, etc. And, of course, they need to throw the ball enough to keep that a threat as well. Oh wait, that just sounds like a normal Ohio game. ;)

If you can’t block it ain’t going to matter if it’s an inside zone or an outside zone.

...in which case, the proper course of action is to call for the offensive coordinator's head, because he keeps calling plays that don't work.

Albin is still calling plays is he not?

Did he give the keys to Brian?

I was under the impression that he had and that Scott Isphording called most played the prior few years.

I believe Smith calls plays now. I was encouraged by Poulous. Not great but held his own. he was just 2 of 4 passing. Not sure where that leaves Winters and Wither. I assume next year's starter isn't currently in the QB room.

I'm watching some of Akron on ESPNU tonight.

Our chances will be greatly improved if Navarro plays.

Poulos wasn't horrible today but that's a tepid way to phrase it.

I would call 8/19 for 110 yds, a pick six and a lost fumble inside the UK 5 pretty close to being horrible. But given that he's a freshman and UK has a pretty good D, we can cut him slack.

Our controversy is that we have 2 not very good QBs.

He's a Redshirt-Junior, not a Freshman. Remember, he spent 2-3 years in JUCO, one of them injured (so he might get that one back). Rather than focusing on his age, though, I'd rather say "But given that he's new to Ohio's offensive schemes, and UK has a pretty good D, we can cut him slack."

Let's look at the last three QBs Ohio has taken from JUCO:
1. When T3 arrived from JUCO in 2007, he played sparingly his first year, behind Bower, and didn't really play much until about the 5th game, so he had a smoother transition. Still, he was only 2-5 in his first game, and that was against Gardner-Webb.
2. Boo arrived the following year, but he was thrust into playing in his second game, against OSU, after T3 was taken out for the season. Boo was 9-25 for 86 yards with 3 interceptions. Ohio struggled that year as he made the adjustment to Ohio, but he turned out to be a good QB.
3. Nathan arrived in 2017. He had an easier transition, with his first game being against Hampton, which Ohio won 59-0. His second game was a loss to Purdue, but Nathan was a respectable 16-23 for 211 yards and a TD.

I'd say that Poulas' start is no worse that T3 or Boo, but far from Nathan's start. Of course, Nathan did not have a team that was wholly reconstituted from the portal to deal with. Regardless of who starts next week, let's hope that both Navarro and Poulas continue to improve, and that one or both develop into fine QBs.

I think UK's front seven is good. Poulas has people in his face all day. Still, he he didn't play well

https://x.com/markcstory/status/1837526930452570528?s=19

Navarro apparently has some sort of wrist injury. If this is the case then it is likely he played with it last week. It would explain why he had less on his passes and threw deep balls were dead quails.

I have to believe that if he can get healthy he'll be the starter and we'll be better off.
