It doesn't matter whether you call this new PAC12 a P or G. What matters is they are positioned to perennially be at least the 5th best conference champion, thereby earning the final automatic bid into the CFP.

The 4 MWC teams could not possibly be gambling here. There has to be something ready to go in addition to the absurd amount of money OSU and WSU got to keep.

Brilliant legal wording used by the CFP committee to fence off the rest of us and keep us in our place.

I have no doubt this was intentional. And I expect the MAC to be back at 12 teams, if not less, very soon.
Who do you think the MAC is going to throw under the bus?

I think Toledo is gone the minute anybody else invites them.

Why did I think UMASS was joining for football as well? Was that just a rumor I never followed back up on? Cant say I’d feel great about being independent in this era. They must also being following that dangling carrot.

They’re official next season I take it? Their schedule is like half MAC half buy games. I’m excited for basketball. Frank Martin is gonna be a blast.

Relative to MAC basketball having UMass is like having Memphis in the AAC. They won't win the MAC every year but be consistently dangerous. That said who would want to leave the MAC at this point with UMass entering. The SBC is a little stronger in football but wrong cultural fit. The AAC is undergoing another big raid and its an urban league unlike college town MAC. There is nowhere better to go and the MAC could land Western Kentucky to make it a Top 10-12 basketball conference.

I'm sure they've tried and numbers in CUSA are more robust than the MAC, but with our powers combined... (I am Captain Planet)... Western makes more sense in the MAC than all that travel to Texas and New Mexico, Florida. Of course we've beaten the MTSU horse to death, but they also would be a nice MAC addition. At this point, I think that ship as sailed though. Delaware is heading to CUSA next season. That's another one where I think the MAC potentially just didn't have the better presentation of value.

I'm all about adding as many teams as possible to insulate the MAC from the outside.

I suppose that's true but UT's finances are a mess. Enrollment continues to drop.

A lot of chatter in Seattle from WSU fans/alums that are not at all excited about adding Tulane or Memphis. They were under the impression that the conference was going to try and remain as regional as possible and the value add from those two isn't as big as some are making it out to be. They seem to be betting on a Stanford/Cal return if the ACC implodes along with a couple other MWC adds that make sense.

Toledo also enrolls non-qualifiers on campus for those recruiting class stats. AAC doesn't all recruiting of non-qualifiers.

They are a model of fiscal responsibility and solvency compared to Akron.

Conflicting reports saying Gonzaga has agreed to join the PAC 12 in all sports.

Memphis, Tulane, UTSA and USF have stated they are staying in the AAC.

All sports except football. They haven't had a team since 1941. They'll get full membership in the new Pac, though.

All sports in Gonzaga terms is what I originally meant. But there are different stories saying the WCC is counter-offering. I'm not sure how much better the WCC can do than a full revenue share at an estimated $10-$20M annually even without a football team.

Utah State has been confirmed as the 7th member of the new PAC 12. Now, both the PAC and MWC only have 7 members, but in order to be eligible for an auto-bid for the CFP your conference has to have 8 members. No doubt there will be move more moves in the coming weeks and months.

Given time and especially if FSU and Clemson bolt for the SEC, it would not be a suprise to see Stanford and Cal both coming back to a reconstituted PAC.

If Clemson to the SEC, I would wager Dabo has a calling to go on a mission trip, or finds a job in the NFL.

I'd see them trying to wiggle themselves into the Big Ten before admitting defeating and joining the same league as Fresno or Boise State. The thing about Stanford that you have to remember is all of their Olympic sports which they take very, very seriously. I don't think this new PAC gives them what they need in that sense.
