Athens is one of 2 dozen Ohio counties under an open burn ban due to this summer's drought. Therefore, I would like to be clear if this includes grilling out during this Saturday's tailgating. Any insight/knowledge shared here would be helpful and appreciated.

Dozens of people were grilling last Saturday and I don't anticipate it will be any different this weekend.

Here's a link to the ODNR release, which has a link to the open burning order: https://ohiodnr.gov/discover-and-learn/safety-conservatio... . It seems pretty broad,

This might change by Saturday as the remnants of a tropical storm/hurricane are expected to be here over the weekend.

Short of impacting games, I hope we get rain all weekend-we really need it in Southwest Ohio!

According to my weather app, Athens will not see rain until a week from today -- Wednesday, Sept 18th. So, the drought continues.

That's about what Channel 4 is saying now. High pressure on the east coast is expected to make the hurricane remnants stall around Illinois then move back south. They now have only a 20% chance of rain this weekend.

Although Licking County isn't in the burn order (yet), we could use the rain too. Crops and lawns are hurting.

This begs the question, Pataskala, what will occur first? A nice rainfall for Licking County or your hometown Watkins Memorial Warriors getting its first win of the season in football?
