So, you don't think we can beat South Alabama? (ha-ha) That's technically an upset according to the odds makers.

It's a weird week. BGSU goes toe to toe with Penn State. Northern Ill is in the game against ND. Kent, BSU and Toledo (to an extent) struggling in games that should be easy for them.

I'm hoping Syracuse's win against GaTech means we are better than expected.

I didn't expect BG to be that competitive against Penn State without their All Conference RB Terion Stewart. Their backups definitely matured today.

NIU is kind of different. They never get too high or too low. They stick to their scheme and they stack the box to try to take run away. They rarely give up deep passes. They are tough to beat. We will see how NIU/Notre Dame ends though.

Love this coach. Buddy is sobbing on the sidelines. Good for NIU.

They’re probably still lose to Kent State on a Tuesday in November, but wow did they ever put ND in a sling today.

I just need one Fiami player to get in a bar fight on their bye week and it's a 2-0 upset week. 🤣

Wow, Northern Illinois’s upset of Notre Dame is a real head scratcher, but great news for the entire MAC, who is certainly worthy of some long overdue respect here and there. The fear was that the NIL World that we now live in would make the Power 5 even more dominant than they already are, but I am beginning to question whether that is, indeed, true. In the old days, Coaches in the Power 5 could stockpile talent and thus create depth. Now, if you don’t play them, they are a serious risk of leaving your program. I wonder if we will now begin to see really good players decide to go to teams outside of the Power 5 that can guarantee playing time vs going to another Power 5 team that can’t. The prospect of this fills this long time Ohio Bobcat and MAC fan with great joy. How fun it will be to watch the mighty fall. Not only was Notre Dame being upset today insanely fun, but so was Florida State being beaten not just once, but twice. Perhaps, there is a thing called “Karma.” If so, it should be a GREAT Season of College Football.

According to Sagarin, 175 teams in D1 are better than Kent.

NIU is 25th in this week's AP poll and 30th in the Coaches poll.

Which means about 40 FCS teams. Sounds reasonable. I don't know a lot about them but I'd guess St. Francis (PA) is probably a little outside the top 40 FCS.

Sagarin has them at 220 in all of D1, which would make them about 86th in the other subdivision. That was through Week 1. The Week 2 ratings aren't out yet.
