Report on the 6 running backs in camp. The ones mentioned are Patterson, Edmond, White, Brown, Irons, and Ouellette.  There is no mention of Bo Hardy. Is he gone, or will he rejoin the team when the roster expands to 120?

I note from the Messenger that Jake Schany is gone for medical reasons, and that Venham and Malik Rodriquez will both not join the team until the roster expands.

Day 2, with Vick and Robbier Walker.

Day 3
, with Basham and Jessie Williams.

Day 3 Blog, from Arkley

Arkley wrote:expand_more
The play of the practice may have come from head coach Frank Solich. When a high snap got past the quarterback, Solich picked it up and started running up the field against the defense. He got a couple yards, gave a forearm shiver to a defender, and then executed a half-speed spike of the football.

The big news for me today was learning that our football team will not use the IPF due to a safety issue associated with a transitional lip from turf to running track.  Apparently Athletics has not signed off on completion of the building and is haggling with the contractor.  This...only eight months after the friggin' place was supposed to be finished.  So much for the Aug. 25 grand opening celebration.

According to Arkley, the Grand Opening will still be held on Aug. 25th.  Small setback.  Glad they are making this right unlike the shoddy construction that went into Baker, and the University had to pony up big two years after the fact to make things right.

And the $ 3/4 million football field that wouldn't grow grass.

Day 4, Arkley blog -
* He projects incoming true Freshman Rob Walker to play this year. Also mentions that Cope had some big catches against the #1 corners.
* Says Devin Jones, who was preseason listed as #2 CB on both sides, is working at Safety.

We'll have no worries at receiver.

Can't wait, can't wait.  I have big hopes that we're at the beginning of some fine years of OHIO FOOTBALL.

I like your positive outlook... I feel we have the talent but experience is still a missing element.   Hopefully we will have Landon back at full strength.

My preference is that we keep the one's on the field a little longer this year and focus on a 6 player rotation vs 9 per game.
However, I can't argue with past years success....

Love how Solich on Day 3 picked up the ball from a high snap and went running.  Saw something similar in a FG drill in 2005 and it really gets the guys going to see Solich make a play.

Day 5 report, Arkley blog. Ouellette and Dorian Brown notch big runs. Walkon DL Tony Stephens has probably knee injury. Windham looking good. McCray playing RG.

Cochran interviews Yazdani

Next up, media day reports...

Per Ohio Football twitter, Solich said:
"We are as deep as we ever have been."
"More freshman will have a chance to play than ever before."

Taken together, they have excellent depth, yet many Freshmen will play anyway. Hmmm - I guess that means that the Freshmen are just good.

LC you seem to follow this as closely as anybody.  Realistically how many starting positions do you feel are up for grabs right now?

Not L.C. but.

RB, WRX2. DTX1, S 1 vs passing.

I wrote up a long reply, but really, what you need to do is to read these comments from the coaches. They go into detail at every position, so I went ahead and deleted my comments.

The key thing to me is that the coaches seem to genuinely like this bunch of players. I think I need to start sipping the green koolaide.

Look at the enthusiasm and unity on this team:

Here is Lucas and Powell talking about how cohesive the line is, and how they are getting better, and how much hungrier the team is this year.

Here are some players at media day. Vick, Cochran, Carpenter, Basham, Kristoff, and Daz answer questions at media day.

You get the feeling of a young team that really wants to play well, and wants the team to do well. They believe in each other. None of them are talking about what they personally are going to accomplish, but what the team as a whole is going to be able to do, and they all exude confidence about the other players on the team,

Cochran says "the way we practice right now, the enthusiasm we've had, I've been here for... this is my fifth year now. I've never seen a team practice like....with this much enthusiasm, with this much excitement in my life".

Oh, and if you missed it, here's the new locker room reveal.

And here's a season preview from Bobcat TV.

Very exciting.  Remember how dynamic we were until the cloud of the last 15-20 games of tetivo?  I think that whole cloud has been blown out and we're gonna play some ball.

What's the scouting report on kents?  I think we're gonna knock their Dix off (Dan Jenkin's awesome Semi-Tough reference--great book).

Doesn't surprise me about the O-Line, big upgrade on the staff with the new line coach.

I'm not going to predict that they will win all their games, or even that they will win the MAC East, but I wouldn't bet against them, either. I predict that they play hard, and when things get rough, they will pull together and never give up. That's all I ever ask from a team, and it will make them an easy team to root for.

Go Bobcats!

Based on the Messenger report, injuries are piling up and I wonder who is going to play middle lb, maybe they're holding half the starters out in an over abundance of caution, but I see problems lurking if thus keeps up. Sorry for the doom and gloom report. I'm out.

You must be reading a different Messenger, injuries are few and far between this camp. Couple of guys banged up and wearing red jerseys but only one player, a true freshman that was likely to red shirt, that will be out for any significant time. We'll be fine.
