Remember that Peden is the Wrigley Field of College Football.

Doesn't UC's Nippert Stadium already carry that distinction?

An old stadium that hasn't seen a championship in decades, surrounded by a neighborhood full of drunks?

There are a lot of cities and towns of similar size to OU that don't have a golf course; Athens being just one.  So that really shouldn't be a concern.

A #8 ranking in this area, such as it is even, is pretty impressive to me, especially since I spend a fair amount of time tooling around the A&M intramural facilities and they are quite impressive.

Not that it matters at all but I am almost certain Athens is the only city in Ohio with a population over 20,000 that doesn't have an 18 hole golf course within 25 minutes of it.  Brass Ring being the closest.

Well played!

I for one could care less about the party school ranking.  I know what Ohio University is to me, and most people who graduated from it's wonderful campus.  I know that we're among the most proud alumni that you'll find anywhere.  I know that it's a quality education, while giving students what I consider to be the quintessential college experience in a fantastic college town.  Oxford Tech encompasses some of that as well, but sadly I've rarely been witness to their alumni showing the same pride in their Alma Mater that we do.

My memory could be flawed on this - as on many other things - but I seem to recall that The Wrigley Field of College Football moniker was attached to Peden by one of Ohio's former ADs.

I do recall more clearly that some years ago The Sporting News ran a piece on what I remember it calling Cathedrals of Autumn and Peden was included.

that was Tom Boeh's thing when Peden underwent the renovations before the 2001 season.
