Approaching unblockable status even when they double with a pulling Olineman. Spoke with one of the offensive coaches they have no answer for him says that if Basham continues to improve even at a modest level he will be Khalil Mack with more upside physically and another 8-15 sack season we will lose him early..Fully expects some 3-4 sack games this year. I just think of how good this defense could be with those ends and that secondary has been playing since freshman WOW.

Not saying it's not possible, but does the MAC have a history of guys leaving early? I know we've had some great draft picks, but I don't see the MAC as a conf. where a guy will leave early - but of course if scouts tell him he'll be a top ten pick - then you take the money and run...

Who was the last MAC player to declare early?

Roethlisberger left early. There may be others, but I think Roethlisberger is one of the few that left early and has had success in the NFL. I think Nate Davis left Ball State early.

I'd say that at some point he'd be wise to consider an insurance policy for serious injuries. I know those are available for players that are consider high future draft chioces.

It's exciting to have the chance to talk about an Ohio Football player in such a high regard as this, but the prospect of him leaving early seems a long, long way off to me.

I think Omar Jacobs came out early too (what was he thinking?)

I don't know his exact weight but Basham does seem to fit the new prototype NFL body mold of a OLB like a Mack, Mingo, Von Miller etc.  But he's gonna have to put up some ridiculous sack numbers to have a real shot at leaving early.  Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves after one year and a few practices.

I can remember for several years how Solich said his dream was to have an outstanding Rush DE to impose his will over teams. It sounds like his dream may have come true.

Jacobs did leave BG early, I think also in part due to the Falcons losing that terrific trio of WR's they had that year. Both Jacobs and Davis should have returned. Ball State had WR Willie Snead leave early this year who went undrafted.

Antonio Brown left CMU a year early and he's doing alright in the NFL.

Anyone else think we're getting a little over-excited here? It was a fall scrimmage! Sure he had a great year last season - but I'll need to see a bit more on the field before we proclaim him a first round pick.
