Interesting article touting the talents of one Rakeem Cato and his band of merry misfits.  Does this put Ohio in the position of being "quasi-BCS" busters in Week 3?

After looking at their schedule, we are about as good as anybody there. I'm sure Southern Miss and maybe Rice UAB or Western Kentucky may be rated higher, I don't know because I haven't checked, but that is a bad schedule. They should run the table, but as everyone says, that's usually hard to do.

Paul Meyerberg at USAT is to the top 24 of his countdown and hasn't included them yet.  As good as they might be, they could go unbeaten and still not crack the top ten, let alone be in the conversation to make the playoff.  Nonconf games are Fiami, Rhode Island, Ohio & Akron -- not a "P5" team among them.  CUSA schedule includes FIU, FAU, UAB & Southern Miss.  Not much there.  Their schedule strength would really work against them with the committee.  BG has a much better chance to turn the playoff world upside down.  They have Indiana & Wisc, along with WKU & VMI out of conf; in the MAC they have Toledo, Ohio, Ball St & Buff, all of which should be pretty good.  If BG goes unbeaten, they should be considered for the playoff.

Marshall peaked at the right time last year to get the hype they are getting this year. They dominated a good ECU team (although, I watched the game....and no discredit to Marshall because they came to play that day, but ECU didn't look like they wanted to be there), and didn't trip over a decent Maryland team. Plus they have a clear star in Cato, and college football press hype is all about the star. Witness: in the press the last two years Ohio Football was not "the Ohio Bobcats;" it was "QB Tyler Tettleton and the Ohio Bobcats." T^2 was the star, and our fortunes in the press rose and fell with his.

So, yes, Marshall is a talented team, but they are particularly well situated for press hype. And they should run the table with their schedule, in a conference that is basically the beta test version of the Sun Belt. But they won't, because they have yet to show they can go an entire season under Holliday without blowing a game through mental errors.

I'll say this too....I think Marshall beats us this year, and then turns around the next week and loses @Kron.

Most marshall fans would agree with you cmoney that akron is our "scary" game of the year.

CUSA is better than most give it credit for. UTSA, UNT, MTSU, FAU, and Rice are all pretty decent teams. USM will eventually rebound. FIU is awful, as is UAB. ODU is a question mark but i dont expect them to win more than 4 games. WKU i dont knkw alot about.

I wish louisville wouldnt have backed out. Would have been a good win to notch for this team. Sucks that took away our statement game but all we can do is win them and do the rare thing and go undefeated. We do that, we should be hovering around #10 and get the access bowl as well vs a big name team to puncuate the season.

They'll be in Meyerberg's Top 20.
