So you don't have to go look them up, the contenders:
RB - Papi White, Maleek Irons, possibly Robbie Walker
QB - Joey Duckworth
WR - Robbie Walker, Herman Brunis, Andrew Meyer, perhaps Chek Washington and Tyler Jones
TE - Connor Brown, perhaps Kyle Kuhar
OL - Joe Lowery, Jered McCray, Tate Leavitt, Jake Pruehs, Stephen Langenkamp, Brennen Dudziak
DL - Kent Berger, Chalmer Frueauf (preferred walkon), Kyle Kuhar
LB -  Jared Brumfield, Brian DiCillo
DB - Curtis Brunson, Jalen Fox, Kylan Nelson, perhaps Chek Washington and Tyler Jones
Special teams - could be any WR, DB or RB returning kicks or punts, or Pierce Royster kicking

As good as these guys are, a lot of them could play. Where will they make the most impact?

I believe I was the first one to vote in this poll, or very nearly so, and I'm glad to see that now after a day or so the choice I voted for has worked its way to the top. I just have a hunch that Papi White and Maleek Irons are going to have a major impact. I watched their recruiting videos a few months ago, and I was impressed.  This may not mean much because I'm no scout and not the best judge of talent, but these two stood out to me.

It's hard to argue with any of the picks. Certainly RB, OL, and Special teams are three areas that need improvement, so they are areas ripe for some Freshman to step up and make a mark.

Beyond the fact that we have two highly touted running backs coming in, I think running back also offers more opportunity for early playing time than some other spots on our team with who we lost last year.

I love Daz. I was disappointed we didn't see him used more in slot role putting him in space to get the ball in his hands last year. I hope we see more of that usage from him this year. From what I have seen/heard Papi could be a similarly talented players in space. Irons seems more like an every-down back.

Those three (2 being true Freshman) are going to have a HUGE impact on how well this team does. If these 3 can make the plays I think they can, I think this team surprises many.
 
edit: And I cannot leave out Edmund. He is another guy in our stable who seems to be a between-the-tackles every down type player. With his offseason weight numbers I am excited about him.

I miss the times when Thompson was a go to guy from TE. Would be wonderful for a TE to step up and be the post man to Vick's point guard.

While admittedly biased, I'll go out on a limb and say Jake Pruehs at center. Why? Most incoming college freshman experience a huge jump between high school competition and college. Jake's jump won't be nearly as great. He played in an elite program that played a national schedule against top ranked teams. Solich will probably want to red shirt him, (and I think it's in the programs long term interest to do just that), but he will be way ahead of a lot of other players and it will be hard not to play him immediately. Sean. I am a big fan of Jake. I believe the experts have undervalued him. He is coming in to play center. He pulls very well and finds his block very well. He could do well as a short yardage sub at TE. My only concern will be when he has to man up on RS Sr. nose guards.

Good point. I think you're right. In a perfect world I hope they red shirt him so there's no debate about his freshman year. Long term, "redshirting" is better for the program. That said, I'm commenting on Jake because I watched him against some of the better high school programs in the nation. He can really play. He's a big time player that doesn't get a lot of attention because he's an o-linemen. The good new is he's "all in" on Ohio and is going to be a great kid for the program. Ohio fans are going to love this kid.

I think he's going to be great, and I suspect they may play him this year, but I hope not. If they do play him, I think he'll do fine, but I'd much rather have him as a 5th year Senior than as a redshirt Freshman. What I particularly like him is the gusto he plays with...all the way to the whistle, on every down.

So far the names I've heard mentioned for true Freshmen that have made an impression include Robbie Walker and Herman Brunis at WR, Joe Lowery and Stephen Langenkamp OL, and Curtis Brunson, CB.

L.C. - what's your opinion on the hardest position a high schooler will have to adjust to at the college level? I originally would think QB, but even high school offenses are starting to get complex enough for a true freshman to start in college. My next guess would be WR, because of the disparity between high school DBs and college DBs they would be going against.

I would stick with QB, but behind that I'd put the line positions, both offense and defense, because physical maturity is so important there.

I have been a big fan of our redshirting most freshman o-lineman. Not because they aren't ready, but because with big guys that extra year of physical development can make all the difference down the road. This year, it seems like we have a couple guys who are simply too good to leave out as freshman AND we could use some more depth. Of our freshman, is Lowery of Tallmadge most likely to see significant time?
