Was looking through game notes, when these stats caught my eye. Since 2009...

Ohio is 35-1 when leading at halftime....

5-21 when trailing...

3-2 when tied...

I wonder how that compares to other teams.

Not sure about MAC schools, but I was watching the Auburn/Alabama replay the other day on the SEC Network and since Saban became coach, I think Bama had only lost 2 times when leading at halftime or something crazy like that.

USA Today ran an article a couple of days ago about analytics and college football and threw out some stats.  In the past 14 years, LSU is the best team in the country when trailing at halftime, at 23-23. Only five programs in the country during that span have won 35 percent or more when trailing at half. Conversely, Kansas State coach Bill Snyder has won 97 percent of the time since 2001 when leading at halftime.

Unfortunately we all know exactly which game that 1 game was. The stat does show that what happened in that one game is not a common occurrence, though.

How many of those 35 teams had winning records when the season was over, and how many were FBS?

So, watching only the first half is actually a statistically valid way of seeing your team win or lose a football game?  OUr kids are so smart!

I still regret my halftime text sent from Ford Field to my brother "short or long sleeve?"

I don't know what percentage of Bobcat fans felt safe at halftime in 2011, but I sure as hell was not one of them.  Considering that we had 2 or 3 picks and several trips inside the red zone, 20-0 was a little bittersweet, knowing that NIU could easily score that many points in a few minutes of game clock.

On the other side of the coin, one of the 5 was opening day two years ago.
