Save for the fumbles (hello dead horse, my apologies), my only real negative take away is-- Vick is going to make sure we see Sprague at some point early this season. I personally thought he looked very good throwing the ball on Sat., but he has to learn to protect his body better. I think there were two plays (one that def. stood out, where he came away really gimpy after a scramble, due to his putting his head down and launching himself forward into heavy traffic).
Sir, you are 196lbs. You have to be smarter. I'm all for the occasional sacrificing of "life and limb" in a big situation. However, unless you are built like a big running back or TE playing the QB position...negative.
- Vick, was about as good as I expected throwing the ball (good to see)
- I also liked the offensive game plan
- I REALLY liked our linebackers throughout. Johnson's energy/attitude both on the field and the sideline, was exciting to watch
- Smith playing opposite Bashem on the line **thumbs up from this guy**
- Jones on the back end at safety and Wells on the outside, looked very strong. The defense as a whole was pretty fun to watch. Looked hungry and ready to go all night
- Smith, is clearly Vick's security blanket target (every QB needs one). Looking forward to another WR or two (other than Cochran) emerging throughout the season. As defenses begin to key in on 87 on big passing downs
- Oline play was solid.
Take away those fumbles and I think we win this game going away. Kudos to the staff and the defensive unit especially, for not getting down after the fumble count continued to rise. It's just one game, but I liked what the kids showed on Saturday.
