I'm sure that there were economic issues behind the move, but I am at a loss to understand it. On AM radio, the most expensive/profitable times of day tend to be morning drive (7-9am), noon drive (11-1pm) and evening drive (4-6pm). The evenings are are cheap (few people listen to AM after they get home from work), so moving the show to noon drive preempts the normally profitable air time, instead of replacing the normally rarely listened to evening programs. That's what is puzzling about the move.
The only thing I can come up with is that maybe the sponsors and University thought that listenership would be higher during noon drive, and more people would be exposed to the program?
