Is on right now, I guess. Hadn't seen anything about it but looks like it is now at 11 AM on Mondays.

It's all about the sponsor dollars and location....looks like we can afford an 11am slot.

Absolutely none! I attended the show every week and am not happy with this evident disregard for the fan base by scheduling an 11 a.m. show. Not only does it make it impossible to attend but also impossible for me  to tune in at work. I can't even take my lunch hour at 11 a.m........I'll bet Donatos is thrilled too.

This seems like a lose-lose idea. I can't think of anyone that would benefit. The radio station loses, as no one will listen. Donato's loses because they lose the evening crowd, and less people hear their ads. The staff loses as it comes in the middle of the work day.

I'm sure there was an economic issue with the radio station, if this was truly making money for them in a prime-time slot don't you think the business side would have kept the show in that slot?  Willing to bet you dug deep into this you will find that the sponsors advertisers were not there to replace the regular programming.

I'm sure that there were economic issues behind the move, but I am at a loss to understand it. On AM radio, the most expensive/profitable times of day tend to be morning drive (7-9am), noon drive (11-1pm) and evening drive (4-6pm). The evenings are are cheap (few people listen to AM after they get home from work), so moving the show to noon drive preempts the normally profitable air time, instead of replacing the normally rarely listened to evening programs. That's what is puzzling about the move.

The only thing I can come up with is that maybe the sponsors and University thought that listenership would be higher during noon drive, and more people would be exposed to the program?

Hmmm.  You'd think a university that own several radio stations that blanket a large swath of the region could come up with something better.....

At first I thought you were referring to the handy dandy College Football Playoff owner's manual type thing in the picture.

The show is not on AM radio as it's primary (and largest) flagship is 105.5 WXTQ which of course is an FM station.

Ah, ok. I'm showing my age again (plus the fact that I always listen via the internet).

The listener trends for FM are not as strongly skewed to daytime as AM is, but still, I'm sure that if you wanted to buy specific ads, you'd find them significantly higher for mid-day than for evening.

I suppose if the network wanted to prioritize number of stations over listenership on a few, then that could explain the new time. I suppose it's like playing football on a tuesday.

WXTQ is the station of the youth in Athens County and its listening area.  I would almost guarantee their listening body prefers their regular music programming on Monday evenings over the coaches show.

970 WATH the sister station cannot be heard over the airwaves more than a few miles outside of the county and they broadcast the Reds into October.

In the recap on ohiobobcats.com, Coach says that we'll use more than one back at a time at points...though that may mean one in the backfield and one as a wideout.

Lighten Up Frances.

If a network station wants to air the show at 7 on Monday, they have a remarkable technology called digital recording.

In fact, that same technology allows you to do the same at any time you choose on ohiobobcats.com

Ha!  The Reds, once out of the race, being broadcast over other things is always a good topic of conversation.  Drives me nuts to listen to them on WLW instead of the Bengals when the Reds aren't in contention in September.

As for the radio show being at 11am Monday, I enjoyed listening via OhioBobcats.com at my desk yesterday.

Diehard fans like us are going to find it anywhere. The way Athletics moves forward is to increase revenue through increased casual fans. If money is the issue here, and I'm guessing it is, just don't do it.

I suppose the other element to consider here is that it's (sort of) a call-in show. However, knowing that calls are few and far between, they probably figured the time didn't really affect that.

They really should allow for people to call in and record questions to a voicemail box if audience participation is an issue with the format. I listen to a few podcasts that do this, and for things that aren't super up-to-the-minute it works fine. Obviously they'd be screened, but I'm sure our live calls are screened, too. Does put a damper on it as an event though - I went to a few in my student years and they were fun.

On another related note -- do they make the coaches show available as a podcast anywhere?
