Is the OHIO offense in a slump? Or does OHIO have issues that run deeper than the nocebo effect? Personally I think the three (3) road games OHIO's played don't provide a conclusion. But while we wait for the home opener, recounting some of our collective knowledge of sports' slumps could help pass the time.
What first comes to my mind is the great OHIO bowl slump. The program was win-less from the start of bowl play in 1902 to 2011. Beyond the confines Athens though we can look at other college football slumps, like Kansas State's bowl win drought. While there may be greater time gaps between bowl wins, K-State is up for nomination for their win-less bowl appearances between 2002 and 2013.
We don't have to limit ourselves to just teams. The PAC-12 had a paltry 6-12 bowl record between 2009 and 2011.
Speaking of bowls: Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl. And the 2008 Detroit Lions weren't even close to making the Super Bowl with their 0-16 record.
