Dating back to the Buffalo game of 2013, the Ohio offense has scored a total of 114 points in eight games. That's a 14.25 average. Good Lord that is bad. Almost half of that total came in one game against UMass.
Much of what happened at the end of last year was that the team let some adversity drain their enthusiasm (some on this year's team have used the word "quit"). What's going on this year is a young offense that hasn't gotten in sync yet. We knew going in that the D would have to carry the load through Sept, but it's very disappointing that things seem to be going backwards. I didn't see today's game, but it was clear from Russ's description that there wasn't much execution going on with the offense. I'm not sure how a WR pass route doesn't make it into the end zone from the three. A TD there might've changed the whole complexion of the game. And a 35% 3rd-down conversion rate isn't getting it done.
Terd is probably the best team we'll see this year, and they obviously wanted it more than we did. We've gone 1-2 in three straight road games, with six of the last nine at home. This team can still win 7-9 games this season, but the offense needs to get things together in a hurry.
