I'm in a college football pool with a friend where you have to pick a team out of a group of six. BG was in a group and I took them. AWESOME.

But on the flip side, being out $10 to get the Bobcats to win a MAC title would be a hell of a replacement.

I don't think the winner of the East this year will go undefeated in conference.  Could have two losses?

Rightly so. They avoid both Toledo and NIU this season. Their only games against the west are EMU at home and Ball State in Muncie.

October 18 just got even more important.

That leaves soph James Knapke as the only BG QB with college game experience.  He was 4-10 for 71 yds and 1 td in four games last season.  His completions were all vs Murray St.  He's 0-6 in MAC play.  Fortunately for BG they have VMI (0-1, lost to Bucknell 42-38) this week so they can get some positive game experience for the new QBs.  But after that it's home vs Indiana and at Wis, so it'll be grow up quick or get eaten alive.  They're looking at 1-3 or 0-4 going into the game at UMass on 9/27.

Wait. I thought that since Miami was only behind Marshall by 25 at the half, that made them the favorites to win the East?

You aren't kidding. Even this blog thinks so.

Since everyone else has thought it, but no one has said it...

While the injury works in Ohio's favor, hate to see a player go down - especially one of the MAC's premier players.  BG was really relying on him.  Now if he played for Akron...   just kidding.  Part of sports, but sucks for the young man.

This just means we have to deal with him next year.

He's a junior so we would have anyway.

Sorry to see a player injured and miss the rest of the season. Prayers to him. This will make the East race a lot more interesting with him out.

Agreed, cc, while I know it happens, I always hate to see anyone hurt, especially with serious injuries. I hope he has a complete recovery.  As for BG, they will be in good shape at QB for awhile with or without Johnson. They have have 4-star QB in the 2015 recruiting class, James Morgan from Green Bay.

They seem to be loaded at QB, but light in experience. I think they'll do okay after a few games.

I'll say it:

Darn. I was really getting excited for this race culminating at homecoming.

BG dealt yet another blow. They lost starting DT Zach Colvin this week too. Falcons are coming apart at the seems. No way they repeat this year without Johnson though.

And so far Akron's giving Penn State all they can handle.

And now Toledo's QB is done for the year.
