This kinda petered out last year.  Let's get it going this season.   It's how we do a little bit to bump out the otherwise way-too-small funds going to The Bobcat Club.

Here's how we do it.  You post here with your category and pledge achievement amount.  For example, you pledge $1 for every TD thrown by an Ohio QB, or ten cents for each yard our running game achieves this year, or $18.04 per Bobcat victory, or $5 per qb sack we get, etc, etc.

I'll keep track of the weekly results, posting the total achieved each week (in total, not by person who pledges).  At the end of the year, I'll notify each person of their pledge amount achieved.  The fulfilling of the pledges is then on the honor system.  I ask only that you mention that the pledge is in respect of The Bobcat Football Challenge when you send your donation in.

This is a mandatory.  Do it loud and long for old O H I O.

Let's get this on.

I'll bet 10 of you that we beat kents (no points; just the straight on score).  If we lose, I pledge $500 in the Bobcat Challenge.  If I win, you each pledge $50 plus $1 for each point which we score.

(So, if we win 31-6, then you're pledging $81.)

Let's do it. My same system from the past couple of years:

$1,000 for every Heisman Trophy we win.
$1,000 for every BCS National Championship Game we win.
$500 for every BCS Bowl we win.
$300 for every BCS Bowl we appear in.
$200 for every MAC Championship Game we win.
$200 for every bowl game we win.
$100 for every MAC Championship Game we appear in.
$100 for every bowl game we appear in.
$18.04 for every game we win.

Since I'm making above poverty wages now I'll up my $$ amounts a bit this year

$18.04 for every game we win
$18.04 for beating Marshall, Kentucky, or Miami (in addition to $18.04 for the win, so $36.08 for winning one of those those games)
$18.04 for appearing in the MAC Championship game
$18.04 for winning the MAC Championship game
$18.04 for winning a bowl game
$1.84 for each TD we score.

What the heck Monroe, I will take you up on that offer!  I believe that Kent State will win this game.  If Ohio wins, I will happily pledge $50 to the BFC.
Hopefully I will have to pay the $50!

Side note:  I've got a wall that needs a big screen.  And now that we're a team instead of just 11 guys, it's time.

I'm thinking 70 inch or bigger.  What says everyone about size, brand, technology/type of TV, etc?

This thread is pretty lame. Is there a reason it can't sink to a level based on board interest?

I think we should just let this die a natural death or better yet put it out of it's misery and nuke the whole damn thing.

A) It'll pick up.

B) Nice attitude re a thread intended to generate funds for the Bobcat Club by having OHIO fans show their faith.

So generating interest in raising funds for Ohio athletics is lame? Why are you on this board again?

I am on the board to read about our football team. Whenever a handful of people dominate the board with messages to one another it is redundant and boring to most.
I agree that contributing to the Ohio Bobcat Club is a worthy topic but not at the football message board. Why not move it to the General Discussion board? Or better yet just email each other regarding the size of the check you will be writing.

The Bobcat Challenge was, at one time, a fun and enthusiastic way for donors to "couch" their donations. It was a combination of rooting on the cats and using certain benchmarks for payment levels.

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed participating and it gave me a bit more reason to look at certain stats. It was about football in every way.

It has morphed into something a bit less enthusiastic and seemingly less about the parts of the game and more about a challenge of payment. Not that that is a bad thing, just a different thing.

I still look forward to figuring out a few things that were fun for me and use them for my own system of making a donation.

Just for fun I still pay 1 cent for each person in attendance at our largest home game. I still pay $1 for the total number of pushups the cheerleaders do on a select game (one that should see a lot of scores by the BOBCATS). This is because my daughter was a cheerleader and during a game when the Bobcats scored 55 points the cheerleaders did 280 pushups when doing how ever many pushups as there were points on the scoreboard. 7+14+21+24+31+38+41+48+55=280

I also had an amount for touchdowns, sacks, fumbles recovered, etc.

I enjoyed it but now I just do it myself. I was taken aback by the venomous response to this thread however. I guess I would just skip it if I didn't want to read it.

I think that this is a worthy thread. I've been involved in the Bobcat Challenge in the past and enjoyed it and have made extra donations to the OBC and/or Ohio Athletics because of it. This past year my Bobcat Challenge money went specifically to "football recruiting." However, this year, because of some other expenses that have hit the old family budget, I'm refraining from officially participating because I don't want to promise what I can't deliver, but as the season progresses, if my finances improve, I may come up with some late season idea and get involved at that time.

Aren't you the same guy that complained about a thread on gameday eating options? Come on, man, if you don't like the title of the thread, don't click on it. It's that easy.

Don't give people who are trying to do good things a hard time.

You have a good memory. I am the game day eats guy.
My view of this board is to read about the team. That is why it is called Ohio Football.
Sometimes we have well over a hundred people logged in. I don't think most appreciate or "get" inside references or the pointless inane banter. Why don't you guys just call each other or use email?
It is actually impolite and rude. It has a Division ll pre-Frank vibe to it. Time to move on.
