UMass leads 35-33 midway through the 3rd. A UMass win would be HUGE.

Their rented scoreboard collapsed, apparently, but no one was hurt.

Former Patriot Matt Chatham, on hearing the board crash down: "Well what do you expect, it's the MAC!" Dude should be fired.

It was a rented video board. Apparently a hydraulic line broke. Fortunately, nobody was injured

BTW, BG eventually won 47-42. Glad we don't have UMass scheduled this year. They've had three close losses.

That doesn't even make sense.

Indeed it doesn't, and the fact that he had no idea that anyone may have been hurt on hearing the crash, it is pretty irresponsible.

brings back memories of super bowl 1. One of the hands on the clock(that's right, for those not old enough clocks had hands in the old days)fell off before the game. If it had happened during the game someone would have been hurt.

In the late '60s, my high school b-ball team played in a gym that had an analog clock to keep time. At another gym, the men's room was INSIDE the home team's locker room.

I'm glad there were no injuries at the UMass game as well.

The only game I ever attended with an official sweep hand game clock was in fall 1979 when our Bobcats invaded Oxford for our final game vs. M$%^i at Miami Field. We trailed 7-6 late in the fourth quarter when Kirk Springs -- a DB who later played for the Jets -- fumbled a punt near midfield. We drove into field goal range and Steve Green nailed his third FG of the game to win it.

"Dishonorable mentions: Offensive line, J.T. Blyden, video scoreboard"

The first comment in the article is pretty funny.

"I think scoreboard is getting a bad rap here. You can't just insert him in game 5 and expect him to be on top of his game. Missing preseason conditioning, coupled with a hot day, you gotta expect him to cramp up at some point.
