Can Miami and BG do the unthinkable this weekend? Miami has a better shot than BG. Can't wait to see.

If they both do then Purdue must be awful for a Big Ten team.

You know lots more about football than I do, but I would have ranked the upset possibility in the opposite order with BG having the best shot. I guess I'm going on how they looked against PSU, and the fact that Miami sucks!

Yea, I never look at past performance as a 100% indicator. It's all about scheme and injury report for that week.

For BG, Texas A&M has speed at LBs and DBs that can match up pretty good with WRs and TEs. Aggies will definitely try to gameplan for TE Harold Fannin Jr. Against Penn St, the LBs are zone run-stoppers. The Aggies LBs can match man to man with BG. The Falcons just need to balance some inside and outside zone run to keep A&M honest.

As for Fiami, they catch Notre Dame with a lot of injury bugs from last week's win at Purdue. Most occurred on the O-Line and both Defensive ends. Gabbert gets a lucky break to face second-team pass rushers this weekend. We will see how Martin gameplans for it.

If I'm Coach Martin I'm run heavy this week with a lot of pulling guards and TEs on ND's 2nd team DEs. Put pressure on ND to stack the box with 8 then take your shots downfield with Gabbert. Mix in some HB screens to keep ND from blitzing and stay balanced. Keep Gabbert under 20 passes.

As far as ND goes, I always thought it was the losers who gets beat up. ND may still be mad about the prior weeks loss to NIU, but they could be vulnerable against Miami with a good QB.

The Vegas implied score for this game is literally 52-3.

Kent definitely will have earned their paychecks for their road nonconference slate this year! They've taken quite a few beatings and I think another one is on tap for Happy Valley Saturday. Just having to play Tennessee or Penn State this year would be a tall task for any MAC school, let alone one that will struggle in conference. Getting Pitt for another paycheck game isn't easy, either.

This is maybe the one little nitpick I had with LC's MAC tiers. I think I would have had Kent in their own tier below Akron and UMass.

Kent has been playing several big paycheck games each for several years and it hasn't helped their football program one iota. The money seems to be going to basketball and some other sports.

You may be right, after all, Akron was able to come from behind to edge out a powerful 0-3 Colgate team. Still, there is so much separation between those 3 and the rest of the MAC that it's hard for me to know how to separate them.

IMHO I would put Kent higher based on their quality opponents, even with losses. Akron's comeback win on an FCS team is still bottom tier to me. Kent will benefit in conference games playing 4P paycheck games.

But I think lower tier MAC teams should play more equal or lesser opponents to build confidence. Then try to win against MAC opponents. If you want P4 paychecks then go after lower tier P4 teams (like Toledo did at MSU). Playing teams like Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Kansas, Oregon State and Northwestern are more realistic wins and definite confidence boosters.

We should start a BA betting pool on the Akron-Kent game on Nov 19. It would be a lot of fun. Make it a split-the-pot, with half the pot going to pay the OHIO Offensive Line.

Not all schools get subsidies from Joe student for the athletes like OHIO. So they are forced into making $4M in order to stay solvent

They subsidize plenty. It has more to do with not making money on home games so might as well scoop up a paycheck.

The Kids from Oxford, Ohio are up 3 - 0 on the Kids from South Bend, Indiana in the 2nd quarter. I am enjoying this.

Kent is on its way to a second straight shutout loss, 42-0 in the 4th at PSU. They'll be of-for-Pennsylvania after losing to Pitt and St Francis.

MOFO now trails ND 21-3.

Buffalo and NIU are tied in the 4th.

EMU beat St Francis 36-0; CMU over BSU 37-34.

NIU lost to Buffalo.

Kent State had 67 total yards on offense. Gave up 718 yards to Penn State. They are the worst team i've seen in a long long time.

We'll see how Toledo and BG fare tonight.

Wow…BG only loses by 7 at Penn State and then by only 6 at Texas A&M. Talk about two very, very tough losses for them. They played their tails off in both of those games. It’s a shame they couldn’t come away with one of them.

Just finished watching BG give Texas A&M all they could handle and making it a game all the way to the end. Also watched BG at Penn State do the same thing a couple weeks ago. Both Texas A&M and Penn State were/are ranked in the Top 25. Yes BG lost two games but they punched both Penn State and Texas A&M in the mouth on national television for the entirety of those games. Then I watch as we go to Syracuse and lose and worse then that, we go to Kentucky and look like a poor FCS team that did not belong on the field. Of course we have those on this Board who will point out we should not play any P-4 teams and make lame a$$ excuses for our program year after year. So why not drop D-I athletics entirely and move straight to D-III? Then we can play quaint games all on lovely Saturday afternoons, we are not wasting large sums of money or other resources trying to compete at the D-I level where you seem to thing we can never compete anyhow, and we just stop the charade some of you think we are perpetuating right now. BTW, please note my sarcasm.
