Our game notes are up. Not many surprises on the two-deep except Poulas is the backup quarterback.

Poulas has a great arm. He was impressive in the scrimmage I attended.

Definitely a surprise since Timmy was talking up winters at the presser. Unless I misunderstood.

Well, maybe not surprises to those here, but compare that depth chart to the remote websites like Ourlads, and how little they know is apparent:

Did NOT see that coming.

Ol' boy is a load. 6'6" 234.

I wonder what his story is - he didn't play much at El Camino College. He wasn't QB1 or QB2 to start - or to finish - the season. Bizarrely, he did start two games in the middle of the season (467 yards 6 TD / 2 INT) and was replaced by QB1 both times. Then went straight back to the pine for the rest of the season and recorded no stats.

Q1 (15 TD 4 INT) - ended up at Black Hills State University this season.

QB2 is at Wayne State.

As a freshman he played 9 games at Chaffey College throwing for 2037 yards, 13 TD and 5 INT.

Anyone else see Coleman Owen was named a Captain? That's pretty awesome for a kid who has been in the building for about three days. Says a lot about him. Makes me think he's been pretty impressive in practice. I've got high hopes for these new kids, especially Owen and Rodarte.
I don't know how captains are selected under Albin. Under Solich players voted.

Didn't we discuss that Poulas was very successful his first season and then has been injured most of the time sense then.

*Very seems like a stretch for a 2-win team he completed 51% of his passes for, but I guess I missed it! Apologies!

I didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I was trying to remember myself. It looks like he only played one full game and then got injured in the next one. They scored 65 in the game that he finished.

Is this the first season of Albin's HC tenure without any Solich recruits or are there holdovers from 2020 and 2021?

I have tremendously low expectations.

Line: SYR -17.5 - OVER
Over/Under: 47.5 - OVER

42 - 9
After reading some reviews on the two teams, I’m afraid you may be close on this one. They have some good pieces returning and added the number 9 best transfer class according to 1 source. We’ve got too many unknowns to think otherwise about this game right now.

The Bobcats would have been underdogs at Syracuse under normal circumstances. What do you expect after losing over a dozen starters to power four schools? You don’t lose that amount of talent at this level and expect to reload again this season.

This is what was discussed on Page 35 of the transfer thread:

Just FYI…
Poulos was All Conference as a freshman, 2nd Team preseason JC All-American going into his Sophomore year, and was injured two weeks into the 2023 season. He was conference POTW before he was injured. Calling him a backup is a bit disingenuous.
Ohio has had excellent success in recruiting good QBs from JUCO, including T3, Boo, and Nathan. Poulas may be another find.

Weather Channel says an 80% chance of thunderstorms with highs near 80 on Saturday. It shouldn't affect the game inside the dome but folks might be tailgating in the rain.

I thought both guys did a great job. Have to take exception though to Rob’s basically lumping all Ohio fans into having an interest in following Ohio State too and it seemed to be implied, at least to me, that he meant a rooting interest(for them). I acknowledge that probably most fall into that category but there is a different kind of rooting interest on my part and I know I am not alone. I follow what they are doing to some extent during their game until it’s pretty much a given they are going to win. Then, I lose interest. Wish he had made the distinction. :)

Ohio A&M is the furthest thing on my mind on Football Saturdays . . . unless they're losing.

There are lots of Ohio fans that are Ohio State fans. I think more than most Ohio schools there are OSU haters. I was in Peden about 7 or 8 years ago when they announced scores and OSU was losing at the half to a team that they had absolutely no business being behind. I don't recall the specific opponent. It one of the loudest cheers of the day in the stadium. I recall thinking where else in Ohio would that happen. I suspect that there would be a lot of OSU haters at a Cincinnati and Toledo crowd as well but I'm sure Ohio is near the top of the list of Ohio schools if not #1.

Don't get we wrong. Announcing that OSU is winning a big game on its schedule gets a cheer too and I'm sure that the OSU fans in the stadium outnumber the haters. But I don't think that I've heard a cheer for an OSU score that has ever been as big as what I heard that day. I think many OSU fans in the game are constantly aware of what the score in any ongoing OSU game is and they have no reason to try to be loud just to mock someone so they aren't as motivated to be loud.

25? You're a novice.

Double that quarter of a century and I still have you beat. Double your dislike for o$u and I have you beat again. Rooting interests are OUr Bobcats and whoever is playing o$u.
