Hey guys, multi-part question from a Bobcat Club member who doesn't have season tickets.

What's the parking/tailgating situation for homecoming. I have a group of friends with multiple cars who wanted to join together and throw a tailgate which will be more conducive to our friends with young families vs. braving the bars on court street before the game this year.

-- My understanding is since we don't have season tickets/parking passes we'll need to set up in one of the outer lots around Clippinger or the Convo?
-- What time do the lots generally open? Can we get in whenever or will they be blocked off?
-- Any other logistics that we should be aware of?

Much appreciated. Thanks.

The Convo is now a pass-only lot, so your best bet won't be there unless you have a pass. Clip might work but in recent years that I paid to park there, if my memory is correct, it's not "cleared" for games like other lots, so it's semi-crowded to start with on game day's. I can't speak for how early will be necessary, but I'd guess that it's going to require a fairly early arrival to get multiple cars next to each other in a non-pass lot.

We really need better information from the athletic department about gameday logistics like parking, tailgating, etc. People shouldn't have to come here to ask. The parking map on OhioBobcats.com is from 2007!

I was just thinking about this the other day as I was contemplating coming over for the day just for the game. I agree there needs to be a better plan laid out for people who don't have passes to park.

If you kept any of your OBC info or the football season ticket info you should be able to find the parking map for what areas need parking passes. I've parked at Clip in the past, but you have to get in pretty early to get those spots and I believe you pay $5 or $10. There is a little parking area in the grass right next to the roundabout before you cross the bridge over the river that sells grass spots for $5.

Last week people were pulling into the grass next to the Aquatic Center to tailgate (this is the same area I tailgate in, but I have a pass and park in the Walter Hall lot next to the grass). I'm not sure if that was a special event, or if it is now an official tailgate area, but it didn't look like parking enforcement cared.

The map you reference. I agree it ought to be easier to find under a "gameday" type of link on the main menu's.

Your only option is a pay lot and for Homecoming that means getting there very early in that many people park first and then head uptown for the 10:00 parade. Here is a link to the game day map:

Thanks for all of the responses and for the various links to parking maps (which I too had a lot of trouble finding on the ohiobobcats site).

Here's what doesn't make sense. I'm a donor at the letterwinner level. That would seem to indicate that I can park in the blue or orange lots or tailgreat park. But really I don't have season tickets, therefore i don't have a parking pass, so what you're telling me is I'm stuck choosing General Parking somewhere, right?

Also getting to a lot early won't be a problem for us, but getting there too early could be. I'm hoping that what some of you guys have said about lots not being cleared is true vs. cleared blocked off lots that we have to wait until 10am-ish to get into. That could ruin our plans to catch/participate in the parade.

I am glad that we are finally getting to the point that persons are realizing that this is real football and you need to stake your RV spot Thursday night--no later than late Friday afternoon--to get you BOBCAT ON.

What I'm reading here is that you should make a call to your Bobcat Club representative to have a conversation about this. I don't foresee that arriving really early will be an issue. Many of the "pay lots" are usually free on the weekends except for football, so you shouldn't have issues if they aren't out collecting the $5 to park.

Where are you guys finding 2007 parking maps?? Pretty easy for me to find here...

http://www.ohiobobcats.com/tickets/fb-parking-map-14.html

Only way to get a pass is by being a season ticket holder. But the best kept secret for tailgating is Clippinger IMO.

For this past game, Clippinger (a pay lot) and all the other pay lots were manned by 9:00 am. They may have been manned earlier but I drove by a few minutes before 9. Parking is revenue and with the department's commitment to spend, they need it.

Darn you Catfan28, that was a secret you should have left to those of us in the know! I had thought about posting the same thing but then hay, why let those who never ventured towards the South Green know where the parking that has the most beautiful walk to the game nestled among giant sycamores in on anything? Way to let the Catfan out of the bag.

Is clip closed for homecoming because it's a staging area for the parade?

How do I get my parking pass if I donated to OBC but it didn't come in the mail?

It should have arrived with your season tickets, if you ordered them. If you didn't, I don't think you get a pass. If you did, I would probably contact the athletic department (maybe Ryan White...I think that's who I've dealt with in the past).
