I'll preface this by saying that I'm a Cubs fan who has absolutely bought into the Epstein/Hoyer plan (if you're a baseball fan, you'll know what I mean). Obviously the Cubs rebuilding process has been written about ad nauseum over the last 3 years and college football is much different.

That said, we're Bobcat fans. Since I showed up on campus (2010, I'm gone now) we've had win totals of 8, 10, 9, and 7 with two bowl victories. That's impressive and shouldn't be forgotten.

It's apparent that this season is the college football equivalent of a rebuilding year. Our quality seniors are Crutcher, Kristoff, L. Smith, McLeod, Cochran, Kendric, and Thad. Not exactly a do or die season.

We've seen some good stuff from the young crop or WRs - Sebastian Smith, Cope, and Reid especially. A few frosh OLs have been plugged in and have held their own. Clearly, Ouellette has had emerged as a good RB. Papi White, Walker, Duckworth, Irons, Brunis, and Wyatt seem to be the next flock of talent to complete the future offense.

Defensively, we can get to this more in the comments, but I feel like there's JR and SO players who are already impact talent players.

My last point of discussion - don't underestimate the power of the Redshirt. If you're calling for Irons to get some playing time, just look at the overwhelming majority of the roster that has been redshirted.

So, are you guys going practice patience and respect the rebuilding process? Or does this program need to win NOW? Any other random thoughts on the rest of the 2014 season (improvements you expect or things you want to see) and of course thoughts on future seasons are welcome.

CatFan, are you sure your recruiting comments match the facts? I thought that the last two recruiting classes had mostly players with several legit offers.?

It doesn't look like the official website notes former walk-ons. Can you post the guys who were former walk-ons? I can't remember who fit that description.

Let's not pretend like JD Sprague is a legit Ohio starting QB. Vick is the guy. At RB, Ouellette has proved himself to be a worthy option. Daz has been ok but under performing in my opinion, which might just be a product of our offense.

These things tend to go in cycles. Other fans of MAC teams were probably saying the same thing about Ohio in 2011, how come they can't or don't have a Tyler Tettleton? Not one single MAC team has a great or even good QB every year, not one. Look at NIU, they just got pasted by an improving CMU team. No Jordon Lynch, no hope for a MACC this year. CMU stunk after LeFevour left, enough that Enos was on the hot seat for awhile. BG had some recent down years (wasn't our last Homecoming win against BG? Not sure). Not one single MAC team has a difference-making QB (or player for that matter) year after year after year.

I absolutely agree. This program has been on the decline for 2 years and our staff isn't getting the job done. It's time for Frank to make some hard decisions about the people he has surrounded himself with. No amount of marketing can cover up the lack of talent, preparation and discipline that's been evident on the field the past 18 months or so.

Our last homecoming win was a close one over Akron in 2012, which I think was the game prior to our first loss of the season at Miami...

It was indeed the last game before Miami (bye week in between). We've lost 3 of lost 4 homecoming games (Ball State '11, Central Michigan '13, BG yesterday)
