This is not a good team but the season isn't over yet. We are still in the mix for the division with a win on Saturday vs. Akron. Miami and Buffalo aren't very good. We've got NIU at home. I don't know about the WMU game. The offense should have come around the last 2 games and maybe it will break through this weekend.
Um... BG is 3-0 and has a victory over us. We are not in the hunt for any division.
The key here is BG isn't very good themselves. If we beat Akron and BG loses to Toledo and Akron (which is likely) then we could be in a tie breaker situation with Ohio, Akron and BG within 2 losses. Forgetting the division conversation for a second, a win against Akron we are 4-4 and with Miami and Buffalo (lost HC) and a shot at 6 and a bowl. Lose to Akron and I don't see a bowl without at least 1 quality win on the season. Not that a quality win is required but it becomes long shot odds to get it done. As bad as 2013 was we did have those wins over North Texas and Marshall early in the season to push us into bowl territory.
Why do people keep claiming BG isn't very good? They lost their starting QB and you know what their lowest point total is? 17. They're averaging 36.4 ppg and are 18th in the country in passing yards. The defense is starting to come around a little bit, but it's not hard when you're playing AJUTM or DUTM. BG is still a good football team. This idea that they aren't is ridiculous. People are putting way too much emphasis on those blowout losses to Wisconsin and WKU. I hate to break it to you, but BG is probably going to win the East again, with a new coach and QB to boot.
