I can't decide if the changes Ohio needs to understand are needed will be made more evident by winning only 5 games and sitting a bowl season out or winning 6 and getting depantsed by a Sun Belt Conference also-ran in a bowl game.

It's better for recruiting to go to a bowl game I would think. Plus remember how poor we were playing at the end of the year in 2012? yet we still won our bowl game. You never know.

We were without Tremayne Scott for much of the last half (at least) of that season, but he came back for the bowl and played a monster game.

We have 11 days to rest, heal and prepare for a Buffalo team with no head coach, then we've got 13 days to prepare for an NIU team that beat Kent by the same score as Ohio, lost to CMU by the same margin as Ohio, gave up over 500yds to Fiami last week and struggled to beat EMU this week. Then we end at Fiami and Muck Fiami.

With a healthy Vick and Ouellette we can win out. Give me the bowl game vs a Sun Belt team and I'm board for an 8-5 season. Or we could have our annual November meltdown and finish 4-8. Neither scenario will surprise me.

8-5 would surprise the s*** out of me. If I woke up in the morning with my face stapled to the carpet I wouldn't be more surprised than I would be with an 8-5 record.

tilly, if that were the case we would be unbeaten this year. We've been to what 5 bowls in a row. And this is what we have to show for it? Very disappointing year.

Christmas Vacation references are always welcome.

One that I've seen on this board:

Poster A) Frank has worked really hard, Grandpa.
Poster B) So do washing machines.

To the original post: The last time we were pansed by a Sun Belt team in an also ran bowl, it led to the biggest opportunity our program has had in the modern era of football. I'd take a shellacking for an opportunity like that again. (That is if the Football Gods see us as worthy.)
