I used to live about 20 yards from the Highlander. Never stayed there but it's family-owned and the people are very pleasant. 4.5/5 on Yelp. I think it'll be everything you need.

I usually stay there when I'm in town and I need a place to stay. I've had no major complaints yet. The staff is friendly and the beds aren't bad. My only complaint is the shower. The pressure is so high you could take paint off the walls. Other than that my stay is usually pleasant.

just make sure you check in at a reasonable time as it is family managed and the folks may be sleeping if you come late.
