This team needs a lot more than a healthy Vick!
It certainly would help though.

Yep, we do. But Vick impressed me in many ways in his 3ish games of play. There's a clear difference of play between Sprague and Vick, IMO.

According to Coach in the weekly radio show - Vick will not be ready for the Akron game.

So, Sprague or Windham?

Hey, Sprague, game 2 to game 3 was a huge improvement. I am really optimistic about Sprague in his next start. I just hope he gets a hold of a few Ohio facemasks if the laundry starts flying again.

Game 1 was EIU, Game 2 was CMU, Game 3 was BGSU... we're onto game 4.

Sorry, I thank you for the correction. Still my sentiment remains the same. I think if Ohio can get a handle on the penalties Akron will be unhappy on the way home.

Upcoming bye week could be real helpful in getting Vick back on the field in the near future.

Per Arkley's twitter, Vick has been cleared to do 7 on 7 starting tomorrow, and can practice starting Monday.

Sounds like Vick could be good to go for WMU. Will be interesting to see what happens with Sprague having played pretty darn good the last couple weeks. Solich sounded unsure of what to do at this point as far as a starter this week in his presser.

IMO, Sprague has struggled and probably is about as good as he will ever be. Vick has a higher ceiling. I'd give Vick the playing time and see if we can make him a QB that we can feel good about for 2015.

Good to see him back on the field today. Nice performance, considering the rust he must have had: 18/31, 246 yds & a td. The INT was as much on the O line as it was on him.

Nothing like coming off the bench and its 3rd and 27 deep on your own end and then next series starting on your own 4 yard line. Hopefully he will start from now on but with no rushing attack it won't matter.

I knew Vick's passing stats this year are dramatically better than Sprague's, but I was curious how they stack up with other recent Ohio QB's, so I went to the record book to take a look:
1. Completion Pct, game - Vick is now tied for #9 with Sammy Shon and Boo Jackson by completing 75% against Kent State.
2. Completion Pct, Season - at 60.4% so far, that puts him at #8
3. Completion Pct, Career - at 57.3% so far, that puts him at #4, trailing TT, Boo, and T3.
4. Yards/game - his partial games keep him out of this stat
5. Yards/attempt, season - at 8.08 currently, he would be 2d, behind only Bob Babbit from 1962
6. Yards/attempt, career - at 7.6 he stands at #3, behind TT and Boo
7. yards/completion, career - at 13.3 he is at #7 behind Kareem Wilson 95-98, Bill Fredrick 51-54, Rich Bevly 72-74, Cleve Bryant 67-69, Steve Skiver 68-70, and Dontrell Jackson 98-02.
8. QB Efficiency, Season - his 141.3 ranks #2 behind TT's 2011 season
9. QB Efficiency, Career - at 135.9 he is currently #3 behind TT and Boo.

All in all, I was kind of surprised. I would say those are some pretty good numbers considering the issues this team has had. Clearly he excels at throwing the deep ball. Normally you use the run to open up the pass, but it seems possible that his ability to throw the deep ball might open things up a little for the run.

Let's hope he can overcome his injury had have three great games down the stretch, and lead Ohio to a strong finish.

Now that's an interesting statistic, since Kareem once lead the nation in fewest passes by a QB for a season. His passes were truly team efforts. One of the plays that was used occasionally involved a lot of misdirection that would open up a hole in the line so our shrimp QB could see down the field and actually see the receiver he was trying to hit. The more I think about it I'm actually not that surprised at this statistic since his passing usually caught the opposition in their normally everyone in the box defense. His whole career total passing numbers are probably less than Vick's in one game.
