Interesting USAT read on scheduling:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/11/05/col...
/
It mentions that there are "haves" and "have-nots" within the "Haves." Even some of the "P"5 schools can't afford big payouts, so they wind up scheduling home-and-homes with G5 schools.

I'm somewhat hopeful that the new "playoff system" changes the scheduling process so that scheduling 10-15 years in advance calms to more like 5 years. I know, I know...some disagree with this, but it would be really cool to see games get scheduled more in the manner that basketball schedules. I like that a coaching staff can say "in two years, we're going to be really strong, so let's schedule accordingly". The way it is now, they can't possibly know what the quality of the non-conf schedules will look like in 2024. The players that will be on those teams are currently about nine years old.
