Today I saw a vehicle leaving town toward Parkersburg with an AttackCat plate and "THE OU" as the plate "number."  I suspect that this must be a BAer, but I'm curious who it might be.  Does anyone know?  Self confessions are accepted.

P.S. Given the county number on the plate, I'm figuring the owner may live in the Marietta area.

  Nope, it exists; I've seen it around Athens.  I think it belongs to OCF but he's being coy??????

Not me, oh Army grunt, my license plate is my amateur radio callsign, and the plates on my wife's car, the one with the AttackCat logo, is a secret code "HC 42." I do agree, though, that I think I've seen "THE OHIO" around, but my question is about "THE OU." If THE OHIO wants to have a joint confessional that would be OK, too.

For clarification:  THE OU is an Ohio AttackCat plate.


THE OHIO plate that oldkatz and I both believe we have seen may be an out--of-state plate.  I do recall seeing a West Virginia plate not too long ago that had a clever OHIO theme. It might have been THE OHIO, or something else.  I do remember that the car had an AttackCat bumper sticker, so it was clear that the OHIO theme didn't refer to A&M.

There was at one time, and possibly still, a car with Pennsylvania plates that has vanity plates that is my moniker on here minus the "82."  I saw it in the Beaver Falls (near Pittsburgh) area.

Yep. I had OU plates and they were six characters. And counting "The Ohio" as seven characters ignores the space between the words. To fit on a regular Ohio plate, it would have to be "TheOhio," which wasn't what was presented.

I don't want to rain on any parades but it is not unlikely that The Ohio refers to A&M. (Or did I miss a vanity plate reference.) In and around Cowtown, one sees so many ridiculous variations on Buckeye plates that it's clear that you can throw any obscure OSU anagram on a plate and be proud.  "The Ohio" would actually rank high among the plates here.

This comes to mind because recently someone (Homage, maybe) has been selling hundreds of gray tees with a plain Ohio on them in script lettering.  It took a number of unacknowledged "Go Bobcats" to realize these people think they're wearing A&M merchandise.

  Simply stated, Jeff, the plate exists as "THEOHIO".  My old ASA days made me quite able to recall call signs, etc.  Even a salty swabbie squid like OCF would agree, and it is an Ohio license plate.

JSF, I will bet you a large sum of cash that you can get two words of 7 letters on an Ohio Plate. Standard Ohio plates have 3 alphabetic and 4 Numerical characters with a space in between, which is the exact same as a plate reading THE OHIO. I have seen this vehicle around town quite a bit.

I think Billy is correct, except that it is actually 3 alphabetic characters then 4 numbers.  And sidebar, someone pointed out to me how the majority of them begin with F, with some E and some G...and few others.  It makes sense that they just go in order as they issue them, yet I never really thought about it and was dumbfounded when the first 10 cars or so I saw began with an F, mine included.

I have thought about switching one of my WV plates to "THE OHIO".  Currently I have "OHIO U" and "OU 1804" on two of our cars.  Surprisingly, plain old "OHIO" was already taken in West Virginia.
