Tom McCabe called the Miami-Marshall game on Saturday.

I cry for this conference.

I don't know.  I kinda like the random.  Anyone can play by the rules--it's so expected.   Maybe the earth is flat.  Maybe yellow just happens.

Rumblings that Sonny Randle will be providing color commentary for this Saturday's game for OU-UK on ESPNU?

Now that he has graduated, Tyler should issue the ALS Challenge to Tom McCabe!  Could be a marketing opportunity for Pete and Home City Ice!

For those of you keeping score,

Tom McCabe officiated Buffalo-Eastern Michigan.

I'm shocked they would trust him on gray turf.

I thought the crew at our game yesterday went to the McCabe School.

In bad-referees-not-named-Tom-McCabe news, Penn Wagers, of "the boy that caught the ball" Tater Bowl infamy, screwed up the end of the Bama/Arky game last week and cost Arky one last shot at a win.

That's probably worse because that seems like a pretty basic rule.

So is being in the end zone on your own impetus for a safety to be called. How more basic can you get?

The safety call was simply seeing something wrong. Every official makes those kinds of mistakes. Usually not by 5 yards, but nonetheless, it's the same thing as seeing a safe runner a out. This case, a basic rule was applied incorrectly. There's no excuse for officials to not know such a simple rule.

Like calling a runner out at first when the shortstop throws the ball over the first baseman's head and into the stands! ;-)

McCabe called BG-Western last week and Kent-Miami today.

I'm resigned to the fact that our turn is coming.

I'm resigned to a lot of things at this stage.

Must be working the O$U-PSU game tonight. First, O$U gets a touchdown thanks to an INT that wasn't; the ball hit the ground but the replay ref didn't see it because the wrong feed was sent to the booth (not sure how that could happen). Then, O$U gets a field goal even though the play clock went to zero about five seconds before the ball was snapped.

+1

Thanks for the laugh. I needed that today. I hadn't thought about the Tom McCabe effect, and you are right that these flubs are McCabe-like.

I think he owed us a safety call on that sack at the 1. I mean, in his world, that should be about 4 yards deep in the end zone, right?

The throw on the INT really was grounding....still in the box and no receiver in the area!
