I hopped onto here specifically to say something about that. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a commentator react like that to a call during a game with the multiple “you’ve got to be kidding me”s and the “broken rule” comment. If he was a coach he’d be getting fined.

It wouldn't be shocking if the NCAA overturned this and he gets to play in the first half against Toledo.

The only call worse than that was the phantom safety at the four yard line at whatisBuffalosucks.

Definitely not a great performance from the refs. The lazy first down call around midfield in the first half that was overturned was disturbing.

That. Was. Atrocious.

And they reviewed it... what were they watching? That was closer to a chest bump than a targeting call. It wasn't even a hard hit. Their heads didn't touch. Walker's helmet touched no part of dudes entire body. I couldn't find any other tape of it since last night, so maybe I'm miss remembering, but didn't he basically fly onto his BACK as he was falling? TARGETING. Using your chest to tackle!

The ref worded it like he WANTED to target him, but didn't... which is still not targeting LOL So bizarre. I suspect they overturn the suspension.

Just dumb.

I feel like the ref didn’t want to overturn another bad call and just made up some BS. Then, later, on Parker’s fourth TD, you could almost see him look at his colleague like “You all suck,” when he overturned that. The ball was a full yard into the end zone. And two line judges missed it. It’s almost like they had the under on Draft Kings.

Also, the early catch on the sideline. There was a bobble, but the receiver easily had control before going out of bounds.

I agree. I was at the game -- watching from the Academic Center -- and everyone around me thought it was the lamest targeting call they'd ever seen. I noticed that the ref that threw the flag seemed to be reacting to one of the EMU players who made the targeting signal with the fist to his head. It was kind of a delayed flag.

saw that too. flag was super late and only after the emu player made the targeting gesture.

I think he needed the 5 minute review to concoct something in his head. 'He REALLY WANTED TO, but didn't... BUT HE REALLY TRIED... but didnt... BUT STILL..."

Is there any update on if this was overturned or not? I could not find anything online but figured no news means no appeal.

Walker also had a huge ball strip, with the game at 0-7 in the third quarter, that was the turning point in the game. The other fumbles were not cases of BG just dropping the ball, but rather were caused by Leake, McNaboe, and Weaver, and Ohio got all of them except the one caused by McNaboe.
