With the exception of the Kentucky and Miami game, our defense has been playing like Warriors all season long. The last two games, the Offense has really come alive. Wow! If the Bobcats can maintain this consistency and balance, you really have to credit the team and the coaches for doing something special this year with a program that lost so many people in the transfer portal. Go Bobcats!

I think the D against Miami was not so bad. Factor in zero offense and two picks, it's amazing we didn't give up more than 30. that said, I agree that you have to like the direction after coaching change and player turnover.

This is one where our pass defense will be put to the test. in conference games, EMU has the third-best offense (268 ypg) and, largely because of last week's game, we have the third-best pass defense (168 ypg). We'll also need a big night from our rushing game because our pass offense is only 10th in MAC games (168 ypg), while EMU is fifth in pass defense (144 ypg). Ohio is among the best in getting to and protecting the QB; third in sacks (14) and second in sacks allowed (7). EMU is ninth in both categories (8 sacks, 11 allowed).

Ohio should be able to win the rushing battle. We're second in rushing offense (222 ypg) while EMU is 10th in rushing D (189 ypg). EMU is sixth in rushing offense (166 ypg) while we're second in rushing defense (94 ypg).
They have a former Bobcat as well at WR. Surprised to see no stats from Walton in 2024. Players tend to keep receipts. So I expect the intensity to be high in this game.

Walton had a knee injury in preseason, or perhaps in the spring. In the portal thread, he was reported to be coaching at Ohio State now.

Agreed, there is only so much one unit can do and the defense was put in tough spots multiple times during the Miami game. We would need a night-and-day performance on offense to compete against this Miami team or Miami would have to play less than their peak with turnovers. Most of the points we scored were when the game was over.

I don’t want to say it out loud, but since we need to win out anyway… if we get to 9 wins with this roster… A+ work by the whole staff. Especially on defense with Spense leaving in May. Not enough good things to say about Hauser. Think he might be poached this offseason as well. Brian putting the offense together with spit and glue. Isphording stepping back. Albin knows what he’s doing ( even when I disagree with philosophy and style). 10 wins within grasp when the whole team was stolen. Miraculous.

I know, I know. I’m afraid of hitting submit. I’m way ahead of myself, but think the path is there and they deserve some kudos.

Just don’t lose after I’ve said something nice.
How about props to the transfers for stepping in? M-W-B, Leake, Dustin Johnson, MacNaboe, Doggette and Rice. They are among our leaders in everything. Heck, let's toss in our offensive transfers too: Owen, Tyus, Bruno--pretty awesome fit with everyone who left.
You aren't lying. I love Owen man. What a special kid. Named captain after being in the building for about 2-3 hours. Academic weapon. Putting up #'s all over the field. Special player.

Leake leading the team in tackles. DJ, MWB right up there as well.

I've said it a lot over the years, usually every time we get a P5 transfer and they don't do anything, but give me a stat stuffer from the FCS all day long. Kids know how to work. Gotta have those kinda guys to fill out your team.
Agreed. FCS is a goldmine.

One thing I loved this season was when Blake Leake said he was impressed with the coaching staff, like Albin, Nate Faanes. Specifically, he talked about how much football he has learned from Ohio's staff even though he is a very experienced player. That is amazing to hear. Get some FCS grinders and take their game to the next level. Very helpful.

Agree also about the winning. Ohio may have games like the one against the Chippewas where it looked like they started to run out the clock leading 24-0 at halftime but it is obvious Albin knows how to win. They have a legit chance at three, 10-win seasons in a row. For those of us that lived through LONG stretches of futility at Ohio, Albin wants to be here and will win. I just hope we can get a title at some point before i die.

I have been getting a perverse pleasure out of watching the complete collapse of Mike Norvell and Florida State. You would think that Norvell would have been smart enough to pull a Bill Belichick, but, instead, he rambles on while proclaiming some of the most delusional coach speak imaginable at his press conferences after having been totally thumped by the opposing team. On the flip side is Ole' Miss Head Coach, Lane Kiffin, who is being called "The Transfer King." He pushed back on that title a bit on the Dan Patrick Show today by saying that their program tries to find a balance between existing players, transfer players, and freshmen recruiting. He pointed out that those teams that are not doing well in the transfer portal appear to be lacking the needed "culture" to succeed. I thought about how this applies to our own Bobcats, who seem to have been succeeding with current players, freshman recruits, and the transfer portal. Even more important is that they appear to maintain a positive "culture," which is what Kiffin eluded to.

A win guarantees Ohio a winning season overall and in the MAC, and would make it three wins in a row for the first time this season.

Latest weather: Temp around 50 degrees at game time, dropping to the mid-40s by 10:00. SE wind around 10 mph could make it feel chillier and affect kicking toward the south endzone. Very slight chance of rain between 10:00 and 11:00; already raining in SE Indiana.

The cats need this one with Toledo next and Ball State playing better the last few weeks. Can't let the season tip over starting tonight.

OUr front 4 needs to get to Snyder to throw his internal clock off on passing downs. Will be crucial the rest of the game.

Just proves that Albin has a BA account. Reads our shit and then opens up the playbook

I don’t get it either. What’s he played- 1 series this game? Why not try something different ?
