My guess is either Tim Carpenter or a portal guy to start the year. If it is Levi it will be a great sign.

If Parker does get another year I’m guessing he will be using it elsewhere.

I was tempted to pick Hype Grand on his name only!

Right now, how I see it: (This will probably change later)

1) Hype Grand
2) Tim Carpenter
3) Levi Davis
4) Incoming Transfer Portal QB

Lots of QBs already in the portal….many fitting OUr offense….one named HOUser….how appropriate.

Is Jacob Winters not an option? I don't know who was considered 3rd on the depth chart this year but he seemed to dress every game is only going to be a redshirt Junior.

I'd think Poulos, being the backup this year, has to be at least a possibility. If he gets either an injury redshirt for the year he only played one half or the Pavia rule stands and it applies to him (I think it would) he could come back. He probably is graduating and might not even want to but, still, given he was the #2, it shouldn't be ruled out entirely.

I am leaning Carpenter as my guess.

The only thing about Poulos/Winters; Is there a long-term plan for them as QB1? Poulos has been there for mop-up duty after Navarro won the games. Can Poulos manage complete games?

And Winters is still an unknown for what he can do. But hey, we got options.

Who is Hype Davis? Does he combine the best of Hype Grand with the best of Levi Davis?

I would redshirt Levi.

I have no basis for the reason but I feel like Carpenter could be the real deal ..6'3" 235 lbs is a big drink of water.

Can't predict the portal nonsense so who knows.

I don't see Ishpording posting that tweet at this time if we were just going to rely on an internal competition only for the position. That tells me we are going to get someone out of the portal and with the expectation he wins the job.

None of those players earned those accolades immediately after coming from the portal. The next good to great quarterback may already be here.

I'll go with Carpenter. I don't see it with Poulos and am still annoyed he missed a wide open tight end who could have walked into a touchdown at Ohio State. Winters is a complete unknown and I doubt we make a move on Carpenter out of the portal if there wasn't a real belief that he could help soon. Carpenter beats Grand on being around longer. Davis redshirts.

I'm putting almost no stock in Hype. Would love to have him on the roster but I just am having a hard time seeing the fit at Ohio. He's from the other side of the country, went to 3 or 4 high schools in 4 years, and is looking at an uphill camp battle for playing time and a new coach. That's the recipe for a one-way ticket out of town.

In total agreement here.

Unless Hype separates himself from Tim right away, I imagine he's gone pretty quick. Probably to the FCS to get some stats and show he can play, and then try to transfer back up.

Carpenter always transfers on CFB26, so hoping that is not true to reality. He is always my sneaky portal pick-up because he has 95 speed.

Winters is likely not in the conversation - again - but I remember him in HS and he was a damn good QB. That feels like a million years ago.

Poulos is likely the default QB1 going into spring, he's been QB2 for two years now - has a leg-up from that regard, certainly expect Tim to outperform him quick and move to QB1. Will be interesting to see which way Hauser wants to go with this. Start Polous because he's 24 years old and has game experience and years in the playbook? Or let it rip with Tim because he's a sophomore with a ton of skill and you might lose him to the portal and be out a QB in 27.

Ugh I am not a Poulos guy, however, he may be the best option to start the year with. In similar fashion to the Hauser Hire, Poulos would keep the train moving but his ceiling is very capped. Off the top of my head, I can't recall any other significant minutes besides the OSU game, which is probably why I'm not very high on him. He was overwhelmed which makes me nervous, although Parker was too.

I don't know if Poulos is going to be (or should be) QB1 next year.

But I also don't think we should get a QB in the portal.

Our QB room is already full. Only conclusion that intrigues me would be if Tim Carpenter wins the job.

I have no inside information about it but IMHO I don’t think Levi Davis would skip the rest of his senior year if he didn’t think he had a good shot to be the guy sooner than later.

We will likely see who flinches first and gets in the transfer portal. They’ve all been practicing all year and should have a pretty good idea of the pecking order. We shall see soon.

I know Hype was a high school qb but are we all assuming he was recruited to be a qb? He was Def a running qb, no? Great athlete that we could hopefully find a place to plug in?

And is he related to Hope Davis? We could use more obscure celeb presence at peden, no doubt.

One of my co-workers is a big college football fan and I showed him the odd name of the signing and the very strange combination of schools that had recruited Grand when he signed. I just said,"What are the odds that he sees the field here." But when you got an offer from a program the caliber of Texas A&M then the guy must have a lot of talent.

I was thinking about this a month ago. With the transfer portal it is hard to predict because it is usually nearly impossible to guess who the transfer might be. However, in most cases you could guess it will be a guy in house (or recruit), a guy in house or a transfer, or one of two guys or a transfer. In our case there were a bunch of guys that you could see for varying reasons.

Parker Navarro would have to get an injury redshirt and decide to play here.

I'm the guy who first mentioned Poulos but as I was thinking about it late-season, not only does he have to get another year some way and choose to stay but I also wondered if him being the #2 this year meant the staff currently saw him over Grand or Carpenter if they all came back. Grand looked like the was dressed most games but I assume they wanted to redshirt him. When I looked early in the year, if I recall correctly, Carpenter wasn't dressed. I am guessing he was injured and even if maybe he could have played late in the year, he maybe didn't because there wasn't a lot of reason, and also either out of caution or to make it easier to get an injury redshirt at a later date. I think that it is plausible that Hauser and Isphording don't see Poulos with the inside track even if he is here next spring.

I can see why some predict Davis as a Mr. Football finalist but unless he is the clear choice it is easy to think he'll just be redshirted. Though, if that happens, Grand or Carpenter could be blocking him as starter for a while. Of course, you can't predict if whoever it that is might be in the P5 in 2027 as well.

I think that it is much harder to see Papas and Winters as a potential starter next year.

He had offers to Colorado, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Memphis…

If anything, OU told him that he could be a QB here when other places were potentially recruiting him elsewhere.

If Poulos AND Winters are gone, we should get another quarterback. Even if they are behind Carpenter and Grand on the depth chart, that's a better situation than your third stringer being a true freshman.
