Big cheers to this guy in the bowl game.
* Recruited by Frank. Commits in May 2020 during COVID shutdown
* Frank retires preseason before his freshman year (2021)
* Sticks with program under Albin and becomes MAC champion
* Sticks with program under Smith, is All-MAC and plays in one of great home wins ever against WVU
* Will play in his last bowl game under his Fourth HC since signing day (including Solich)

Just a great guy and amazing odyssey. Amazing Bobcat!

Davion has truly been a great Bobcat and IMHO should be historically held at a platinum level of appreciation for his dedication to the school and program. A special annual award in his name????

He was a major contributor to our first championship in decades. I enjoyed watching his play and effort.

"The Davion Weatherspoon Integrity Award"

^ Sounds like a good accomplishment for a Bobcat player to get.

Shed is pretty close. He was here during that 2020 year.

2020 - OU
2021 - OU
2022 - OU
2023 - OU
2024 - Rutgers
2025 - OU

Adonis is pretty close. Would love another year out of him, but he's been a tough four year guy.

2022 - 12 games as a back-up
2023 - Starter
2024 - Starter
2025 - Starter

Jordan Jones, Jack Fries, Michael Molnar, Rodney Harris are next in line for the five year green and white.

2022-2026

Ohio fans would owe a player like Weatherspoon our deepest gratitude under pre-pandemic times. But a player showing this kind of loyalty, time and effort during this current college football landscape with the portal and NIL? Not sure we'll see too many more like Weatherspoon. Wishing nothing but the best for this young man wherever life takes him.

Admittedly I don't know much about our NIL budget but I wish there was some type of "loyalty NIL" for the players that stay 3+ years like Davion giving more of an incentive to stay.

I would have to think that a part of the NIL budget goes to existing players to encourage them to stay.

Admittedly, this did not age well. :)

I wish him the best but it does sacrifice the use of his name being attached to the annual “________ ________ Green Blood Bobcat Award”. :)

Now the Fries Molnar Green Blood Bobcat Award.

But really, I did not know he had eligibility left. Gotta think he's about to land somewhere pretty big. A decorated 6th year OL. A noted leader. Enjoy Indiana!

DJ Walker comes to mind too since he’s always been a Bobcat and is continuing per his recent statement. Another thought might be to withhold the name attachment until someone “blows it out of the water” in some way (and I’m not saying it couldn’t be one of the guys already mentioned).

Obviously I thought Weatherspoon was done too. To your Indiana comment, yes, I could definitely see that. I don’t think he waited this long unless he really had a good one.

Was he hurt in 2022? He has no bio for 2022. He has a picture, but just listed as a RS freshman. No stats. Is that the year he's asking to get back?

2021 - RS
2022 - RS Freshman.... ?
2023 - RS SOPH... 11 games, back-up
2024 - RS JR... starter
2025 - RS SR/GRAD... starter

He had a nonroster situation like Shay Taylor did, but last I heard Taylor did not get that year back. I 100% wish the best for Spoon. At 6'0" I wonder if his P4 opportunities will be limited.

And…I was off on this. Looks like Arkansas’ OL coach was the asst OL coach at OSU last year and got a look at Spoon up close. Best of luck!
