I read online somewhere today that Cohen's played in something like 40 games in his NFL career. He quietly has had a decent pro career. Good job Mr. Cohen and congratulations!!

He's made it through 7 seasons or about twice the average NFL career. Not bad.

if he is credited with 7 seasons, he is starting to rack up a pretty good pension program (about $500 a month for each season in league).

I think you have to appear in a certain amount of games every season (something like 4 games?) to get credit towards the pension for that year. I wonder how many he's had. Certainly has carved out a nice career for himself. I hope he's being smart with his money.

If that's the case, he has four seasons toward pension: '08 & '09 with Detroit; '10 with NE and JAX; last year with Chi & Dallas.

It's a confusing formula that also takes into account actual roster time and active roster time. Some can qualify in just under 4 seasons. I believe he has qualified, but not by a ton. He's a great guy, who has done well with himself outside of the game.

What many fail to understand is an NFL players retirement is a deferred compensation that does not kick in until they reach the age of 55. So a guy who's out of the league at 30 has 25 years to go before the see that income. And a LARGE % of guys are broke within 3 years of being out of the league.
