Anybody have any word on how Joe Burrow is doing at OSU? There is quite a logjam at quarterback. Will he redshirt this year? It would be great to bring him back to Athens and Ohio University!!!

Pretty sure he's still at Athens High School.

Unless he graduated early and enrolled in the spring semester (assuming OSU has gone to semesters). In any case, given his recruitment by OSU, it's pretty certain that, if he decides to transfer, there will be other offers from P5 conferences awaiting him. I don't think we'll ever see him in Hunter green, unfortunately.

He just finished a very good basketball season with Athens. Averaged nearly 20 points per game.

For those who have been around Athens longer than me....would you say Burrow is the best athlete to come through an area high school with an OU connection-be it coaches etc.? I have heard Lichty's kids were good athletes too. Grant Gregory was a pretty good player too that I remember.

Steve Bruning and Pam Lee were very good back in the 80's but Joe Burrow was the best at his sport.

Todd Snyder, '69, son of Coach Jim Snyder, played for Atlanta Falcons for three years and the with Chicago Fire of the WFL for a few years. I'd say he is probably at about the same skill level as Burrow. Snyder started his first year with the Falcons with the NFL team that had about the fewest passes/game in the league. He was then injured his second year and didn't play much at all. Then in his third year Atlanta was passing a lot more but Todd had lost his starting position. That's probably why he decided to jump to the WFL. At about the same time there were Athens High graduates who started in football for Michigan State and OHIO in baseball.

That was 50 years ago, can we move to the modern era please?

He specifically asked for information about local athletes from earlier periods of time. Now, I could start talking about the great Pete McLearn on the 1897 team, who coached the team in '98, if you really insist on old stuff. The '97 QB was Ralph O'Bleness another local kid.
