I think Dennis Ftzgerald's name should be submitted for consideration.
Agreed! And how about Tevell Jones, perhaps the Bobcats' best ballhawk...

How about just picking an All-Frank team? Best collection of players since Frank has been in Athens.

I'm not qualified to compare the old time players with those of today, but I can take a stab at all All-Frank Team (excludes current players, some of whom will no doubt belong on this list):

LT -AJ Strum, Matt Coppage
LG - Vince Carlotta, Jon Lechner
C - Skyler Allen, JJ Knabb
RG - Eric Herman, Matt Miller
RT - Ryan McGrath, Joe Flading
WR-X - Taylor Price, Donte Foster
WR-Z - Lavon Brazill, Terrance McCrae
WR-F/FB - Mitch Morsillo/Riley Dunlop
TE - Jordan Thompson, Andrew Mooney
RB - Kalvin McRae, Donte Harden
QB - T3 Scott, Tyler Tettleton

DE - Dak Notestine, Jameson Hartke
DE - Tremayne Scott, Ty Branz
NG - Antwan Crutcher, Neal Huynh
DT - Landon Cohen, Carl Jones
ILB - Noah Keller, Matt Muncy
OLB - Tyler Russ, Lee Renfro
OLB - Keith Moore, Michael Brown
CB - Travis Carrie, TJ Wright
CB - Dion Byrum, Mark Parson
FS - Michael Mitchell, Gerald Moore
SS - Steven Jackson, Todd Koenig

PK - Matt Weller, Michael Braunstein
P - Paul Hershey, Matthew Miller
KR - Chris Garrett, Scott Mayle

For me DT was the hardest position, as Shane Yates, Marcellis Williamson, and Ernie Hodge would also be good choices.

[Note for Paul: The list includes three walkons, Notestine, Moore, and Hershey]
;)

EDIT - Did as suggested below, and added KR as a category, and then moved Mayle from WR to KR, along with Chris Garrett

That's a good list. I would probably put Terrance MacCrae in at WR somewhere. He was almost unguardable in the red zone. How about moving Scott Mayle to KR and putting TMac in his place? Then again, toss up between Mayle and Chris Garrett on who the better return guy was.

Since this started out as a favorites list (no Chad Brinker, yet?), not a best-of list, I'd like to nominate Austen Everson for the All-Frank team at QB. Maybe it'd end up he's third string, but he seemed like a guy that all of his teammates wanted to play for. His numbers were far from eye-popping, but he was a workhorse and a leader. He was a fun one to pull for in green and white.

Meant to post earlier, but I got a little distracted this weekend when my wife went into labor Saturday morning (mama and future Bobcat are doing wonderfully).

It seems like the "All-time favorite Bobcat team" is the consensus favorite for the distraction, so what I'm thinking is we do a week of nominations followed by a week of voting for each position group (QBx1, RBx2, WR/TEx3, OLx5, DTx2, DEx2, LBx3, Cx2, Sx2, Kx1, Px1, and KR/PRx1). I don't think the polls will let us do more than 10 choices, so with some position groups (like OL) we may have to cut off nominations early.

I'll do a separate thread for the overall list, and a separate thread for each position group nominations and voting.

Nice list, though I think Jovon Johnson and Blair Brown may be shaking up that OLB group sometime soon!

And Harden over Blankenship!? Not saying I disagree, just an interesting choice.

Nice point on the walk-ons :)

Indeed there are several current players who will be on this list by the time their careers are over. In fact, the Harden-Blankenship debate may be one that ends up resolved with both gone. I expect some of the incoming Freshmen to find their way onto this list in time, too, especially at Safety.

I was just pulling your leg a little on the walkons. Walkon or not, Notestine, Moore, and Hershey were all players, and I'd be happy to have any of them back.

I think Deontai Williams should just go on the list now :)

I sorted the list by recruiting year:
Walkons (4)- Paul Hershey P, Dak Notestine DE, Keith Moore OLB, Ryan McGrath)
2001 (2/9) - Dion Byrum CB, Matthew Miller P
2002 (6/21) - Matt Coppage LT, JJ Knabb C, Scott Mayle KR, Matt Muncy ILB, Tyler Russ OLB, TJ Wright CB
2003 (2/18) - Matt Miller RG, Kalvin McRae RB
2004 (3/21) - Michael Brown LB, Landon Cohen DT, Todd Koenig S
2005 (6/27) - Jameson Hartke DE, Steven Jackson SS, Michael Mitchell FS, Mitch Morsillo FB, Mark Parson CB, Lee Renfro OLB
2006 (4/21) - Terrance McCrae WR, Andrew Mooney TE, Chris Garrett KR, Taylor Price WR
2007 (8/23) - Michael Braunstein K, Noah Keller ILB, AJ Strum LT, T3 Scott QB, Donte Harden RB, Lavon Brazill WR, Riley Dunlop WR, Joe Flading RT
2008 (8/21) - Neal Huynh NG, Tremayne Scott DE, Matthew Weller K, Vince Carlotta LG, Eric Herman RG, Gerald Moore FS, Jordan Thompson TE, Travis Carrie CB
2009 (5/23) - Skyler Allen C, Carl Jones DT, Jon Lechner LG, Tyler Tettleton QB, Donte Foster WR
2010 (0/17) -
2011 (to be determined/24) - Antwan Crutcher (gone in 4 years)
2012 (to be determined/19) - Ty Branz DE (Juco)

There is nothing surprising here, as it shows what we already knew. First, as we knew, Knorr did have some very good recruits, just not enough of them. Next, as we knew, Germano was doing a good job from 2007-2009. Finally, there was a recruiting hole in 2010-11 (I don't expect to see eight players from 2011 on this list.)

There are three safeties in that class that could be good. We'll see how they look in about 5 years. ;)
