and the Spring Game is indeed set for April 4th.

Is there any news on how Winter Conditioning went? Any Super-Iron Bobcats?

Interesting that they would have practice on Saturday right in the middle of the basketball game and during the big tribute to OU Hall of Famers.

Maybe that's when the IPF had time available?

The initial pass at the Spring Roster is up, now. It has a lot of problems, still, particularly in terms of listing what class each player is in. Also, for most players it doesn't give new height/weight information from winter conditioning, but just repeats the same information from the fall.

So.... that said, does the roster help answer the question of how Ohio was able to take so many Commits for 2015? Does it tell us who is gone? Nope, sorry. It doesn't help much at all. It does show a few players gone, and no new players we haven't heard about before. The missing players who haven't been previously reported are:
Nathan Noltemeyer, OL walkon
Zach Hawk, TE walkon

Everyone else that hasn't been reported as leaving is still on the roster.

So many obvious errors.
We might all send corrections to Mike Ashcraft ashcraft@ohio.edu

IIRC, I think this is a job for interns or volunteers in the office. Probably just haven't had the bodies to deal with the small issues like this. As long as it's better by the Spring Game and finalized by fall practice, all is good.

Nothing more than your father would have done when he wrote for the ABJ. That used to be a very good paper especially when he returned to the sports department late in his career.

There are enough errors that we should give them a chance to clean it up, first. It won't be helpful if 10 of us send a list, each with 30 corrections. They need to just go down the list one by one, and get the classes right, and make any other corrections they encounter. Once they have cleaned it up, and there are only a few errors left, then at that point contacting them with corrections might be useful.

L.C. Such a roster should never have been released. It needs to be pulled until we have at least a 98-99% accurate product. High Schools handle these things better.

I disagree. I'm happy to have the roster as it's better than not having it. Only a few people look at closely enough to notice that the classes aren't right, anyway, and I know they will clean it up sometime before fall.

...and, as expected, the Roster has now been cleaned up. There are still a few errors. Casey Sayles shows as a Sophomore, and he will be a Junior this fall, and I'm not sure about Blake Crow, Spencer Snell or Randy Stites. They may or many not be correct.

Also, the new, improved Roster also shows people who have switched positions at their new positions. J. Brown is now shown at WR, Alexander at LB, and Randy Stites as CB.

For those who want to figure out who these people are, there are also, not surprisingly, a host of new Spring walkons (I found a few of them, and I think I have the right people):

Matt Yoho, TE, Sophomore, Played QB for Bishop Ready, Columbus 6'5" 205 4.60
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1351978/matt-yoho

Donald Lee Harrison, WR, R-Sr

Matt Lawrence, WR, R-Fr, possibly Avon High School, 6'4" 197??

Jaylan Williams, TE/DT, R-Fr, Kenen High School, Warsaw, NC, 6'3" 227 4.85
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/649226/jaylan-williams

LeShaun Sanders, S, So., DeSales

Erik Stein, LB, R-Fr, Dublin Coffman, 6-1, 225

(nice highlight film)

Yoho . . . there's a name from Ohio football past (running back from early 1980s). Wonder if any relation - bet SBH would know.

I can't answer that, but he does look like he has the potential to be a very good tight end. At 6'5", he's got the height for it, but obviously he'll need to add some bulk. As a QB and power forward, he should have the hands for it. His 4.60 speed is very good for a TE. For me the play that really says "he can be a tight end" comes at 1:42, where he hands the ball off, and then is the lead blocker on a sweep. He doesn't give a half-hearted QB block, he gives the guy a solid hit, and then looks for someone else to block.

Chalmer Frueauf is now shown at LB. He was a 2013 state champion wrestler at 220 pounds.

Seth Myers is now shown at Safety.

Updated numerical up now. By my Math 18 Offensive Lineman. Could the Spring Game actually look like a game?

That's a couple of odd moves. They usually move high school linebackers to DL in college, and high school safeties to LB. Here we have two moves in the opposite direction. Frueauf was all-Ohio as a defensive lineman in college, and they are moving him to LB? As for Meyers, he played MLB/OLB in high school, and they are moving him to Safety? (Meyers started out at TE, by the way.)

A few are probably still out from injury or recovering from surgery, but with 18 on the roster, indeed it would seem that a real Spring Game is possible.

I wonder if Freauf is going to try wrestling too (although he is not on the current wrestling roster) so it's an issue of keeping his weight down. As for Myers, 6-3 230 is a BIG safety.

Malik Rodriguez is now listed at TE. Hmmm....

Stites, who was listed the other day as moving from WR to CB has moved back to WR, I see. Maybe these are valid moves, maybe some are errors, and maybe they are just seeing if we are paying attention. ;)

Rodriguez to TE? He's listed at 6'3", 205, but that is a measurement that dates back to Fall 2012 (most players had heights and weights updated in Spring 2013, but his didn't change). He could be bigger than that now, and if he's up around 230, a move to TE makes good sense.

The staff is working hard on this roster, and fixing things quickly. For example, Sayles has been corrected, and now is listed as a Junior, which is what he will be in the fall. Rumor has it that we may even get current heights and weights sometime this Spring.

Another new name on the roster is Andrew Payne, DL 6'-1" 261, from Danville, Ohio. He originally signed to play OL for Ohio Dominican:
http://ohiodominicanpanthers.com/sports/fball/2014-15/rel...

Later he changed his mind, apparently, and opted to go to Shawnee State for Basketball:

Wow.... couple of these guys really stand out. Yoho doesn't look bad at QB....but with his size and speed and running ability he should be a decent TE

Stein is the gem....another Moore or Daugherty or better.

Too bad his name isn't Frank Nathan Stein.
