Per popular outcry, we are changing the voting system for the RBs (and maybe additional position groups, depending on how it goes). Everyone with a second makes it into a poll. We'll divide them into two primary groups (pre-Grobe and Grobe & after was suggested, but it shouldn't matter so long as each group has fewer than 10), with the top two vote-getters from each primary group moving on to a run-off.

Nominee with seconds:

Chad Brinker (seconded)
Kalvin McRae (seconded)
Erland Ahlberg (seconded)
Steve Hoofkin (seconded)
Donte Harden (seconded)
Jamel Patterson (seconded)
Bill Gary (seconded)
Beau Blankenship (seconded)
Kevin Babcock (seconded)
Dave LaVeck (seconded)
Sid Hall (seconded)
Mitch Morsillo (seconded)
Tim Curtis (seconded)
Larkalos Townsend (seconded)

Other nominees, needing seconds:
Jim Albert
AJ Ouellette
Bob Houmard
Tony Cariffa
Arnold Welcher
Bob Brooks

I'm going to nominate Chad Brinker. He beat Marshall and a brain tumor.

I'll nominate Kalvin McRae. He wasn't fast enough to get drafted, but he was always fast enough in pads.

A good RB sometimes needs a monster FB. I nominate the ROADGRADER Morsillo.

I nominate Erland Ahlberg ('53-'55).
He was lightning-fast both on the gridiron and with the track team, yet could burst up the middle and catch passes, too.
He was a fine defensive back, a tough tackler, as well.

I second Ahlberg and nominate Jim Albert and Steve Hookfin.

One of my favorite games as a student-fan was watching Albert shred Marshall's D for 4 TD runs - in the first half.

I enjoyed watching Hookfin for several reasons but this one stands out: When tackled he consistently managed to fall forward.

Second for Steveland Hookfin. He was a key part of a squad that brought Bobcat football back from the dead.

The underrated Jamel Patterson.

He was forced to split carries with Brinker...that's the only reason he didn't put up huge numbers. In fact, his yards per attempt were always better than Brinker's...but Brinker always got more carries.

Anyway, I loved his running style and he was fun to watch.

Donte Harden - nominated - still seeing that wheel route vs Temple in the black uniforms.

Bill Gary. I believe this guy had to live in his car at one time and was a decent running back.

OK, it appears that personnel from our second most successful roster are not very popular. I nominate Blankenship.

Second Patterson, Gary and Blankenship.

Now, nominating Tim Curtis. Twice ran for more than 1,000 yards on dreadful Bobcat teams in the early 90s.

How about Kevin Babcock. When he graduated (1980 or 1981) he was Bobcats all-time leading rusher. Talk about tough and hard-nosed. Man!

I second your nomination. As fierce a runner between the tackles as I've seen in an Ohio uniform. And, some of the other guys listed here are fierce. Even if he was stoned in the backfield, he would often find a way to scrape out a couple of yards. "Babcock for two."

I second Gary

. . . he was very instrumental in our first victory over Kentucky in 1971. The PA announcer's call of "Gary on the carry . . ." is one of those memorable things that has become a legend in our family.

Shouldn't this be limited to players who have graduated? Hence, nix AJ?

Yeah if we're looking historically then you can nix AJ. How about you replace him with another favorite of mine Raynald Ray.
He's your nominee. If he's your favorite, then nominate him. If you want to want to withdraw it, then we can take his name off the list.
