After reading The Post this past year I thought O.U.'s Student Senate took the cake for wacky actions.

Apparently Rutgers' Student Assembly is trying to keep up.

They passed a resolution seeking to diversify their mascot.

They want to consider a "team" of Scarlet Knights including possibly black, latino and "third gender".

The idea is not sitting well with students, but their A.D. said she would look into it.

I would think as mascots go, Rutgers is already fairly inclusive with theirs if they just were to use their knight in scarlet armor. If they want more of the cartoon/theme park style mascot, give it a mask too.

That knight is a masked character-anyone could be behind it. It has an anonymity to it that suggests everyone is represented. A lot of world cultures have some version of a knight in their history.

I guess my first question would be how you would you bring those different ethnicities/races to life in the form of a costumed character outside of the flesh tones on the face? Then do you end up risking offending someone by creating features that are maybe over exaggerated such as the way eyes would appear for an Asian character or a female character that looks over feminine with large eye lashes, lipstick etc. as not every woman uses such adornments.

As I type all of this my forehead is kind of scrunched that this is overkill. Maybe the students should look up why the university is nicknames the Scarlet Knights and the homage that is being paid to a university forefather, who was of European (white) descent. Don't his feelings and legacy matter?

Political correctness:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the
proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of sh*t by the
clean end."

I wonder what the reaction would be if Dan Snyder introduced a variety of Redskin Mascots?

How do you represent a third gender in a knight?
