Quinten Rollins to the Packers with the 62nd pick

Ricardo had the body to play football; wonder if the football coaches asked him to give it a try this past fall? Of course coming off an injury like he had would have made it difficult but I could just imagine those defensive moves he could have made!

You know, I haven't done any research but it seems that there are a lot -- A LOT -- fewer non-"P"5 players taken in the early rounds of this year's draft. Into the 6th round and I think he's the only MAC player taken, and I haven't seen more than 20 or 25 G5/1AA/lower division players picked. Each of the last few years, the MAC has had a first round pick and a lot of other non-"P"s were picked up in the first two or three rounds. Not so, this year, it seems.

I don't follow the NFL. I find it boring compared to college ball. Reasons: I much prefer college rules, greater variety of offensive formations and overall game day atmosphere. That said, this morning's Plain Dealer showed draft selections for rounds 4-7. I saw quite a few players taken from non-P5 schools. Not sure if the number this year is more or fewer than previous years. Here are non-P5 schools that had players drafted:

Delaware State, Texas Southern, Southern Illinois, Chattanooga, North Dakota State, UAB (2), Tulane (2), Navy, Texas State, Delaware, Illinois State, Towson, Tennessee State, Central Michigan, Lafayette, Buffalo, Southern Miss, Monmouth, Northwestern State, Eastern Washington, Hawaii, Newberry, Northern Illinois, William & Mary, Marshall, San Jose State, Mars Hill.

It would seem that NFL teams continue some pretty deep scouting.

And ironically UAB has discontinued their football program.
