I feel like a "major announcement" means more than alcohol sales. Maybe a bronze statue of Frank/TT in front of peden?

The alcohol sales information has been out for a while. The A-News ran it two weeks ago.

That would certainly qualify as both "major" and "news". More likely it is something like a new Sports Information Director.

I think it's about naming rights and $$$ from the deal. Ohio Athletics commissioned a search firm a few months ago to get this done. I think the timing is about right. Bold prediction: OhioHealth Convo.

On the serious side, it could be they have the funding in place to move forward with the athletic department academic center.

Conn's Potato Chips are not only the new sponsors for the Blue Jackets, they are Ohio Universities new sponsors as well. Peden Stadium will hold the annual Sour Cream and Onion Bowl, and the Convocation Center is now the Vinegar and Salt Conn's Center.

Seriously, Conn's will be a great partner for the Blue Jackets - Conn's is out of Zanesville - not Columbus. Why don't we go after such Sponsorships? Especially those in our territory.

That would make this whole deal really easy. The Conns Vocation Center.

Very good - OHIO people are brilliant - on paper. Where is the brilliance in the people getting paid to be brilliant?

Very excited about the addition of the academic center to the northern end zone. Not excited about adding to the permanence of the north end zone corner bleachers. Really hoped they would be eliminated or redone with this build.

To me in the artist rendering they do appear to be redone.

That's a very nice design, and a great addition to the facilities. It really reminds one that academics are an important part of the Ohio program.

If they do redo the bleachers, perhaps they can squeeze in a few hundred more seats for those occasions then the games are sold out, or perhaps the structural design of the center is such that it can support the addition of seats above the center at some point in the future, if needed.
