I'm just curious who everyone on this board would like to see Ohio face in the MACC. Certainly, valid points could be made for why you'd like to see Ohio play either of these opponents. I'm interested in seeing what the results are and why.

In a related question, if Ohio does not win the MACC, who would you least like to see win it?

I picked BG. I think Miami has arguably the best defense in the league, the best running back and the best kicker. In a close game, all those things count. I just don’t know much about BG and they’ve played some very good games against some excellent teams, but I’d just as soon take my chances against them. I’d like to say Miami but after watching them roll us the past 2 years, I’d just rather avoid them if I had a choice.

To answer that particular question - Miami, for sure. I'd much, much, much rather see BG win it over Miami.

That's kind of my thinking as well. Also, if Fannin can't play for BG, then that gives Miami a massive edge. If Fannin is healthy, I rate Miami and BG almost like a pick'em (even). But I just can't see BG beating Miami without him. I think Miami is probably the slightly better team than BG overall, but Fannin is the equalizer all by himself. He's been tremendous.

I think a 2nd shot at Miami, aside from being pretty great to beat them for a MACC, we have a better chance than facing BG for the first time. Having that "revenge game" angle might get that little extra juice that we need.

Miami is pretty good, but we were clunking around that first game, still trying to find our identity - was Parker hurt? Who knows. Poulus had to come in after 2 int.

Think we're a different team, a much more confident team.

Miami is better in my view, but we know what we're getting with them.

Miami.

Do not want to play against Fannin.

Look at the betting odds right now. BG is a clear favorite even though they play a tougher opponent than us. Smart money sees them as the best team in the conference as long as Fannin is on the field.

How about a "Kent" option?

The opponent doesn’t matter. All that matters is winning on Friday. I have a feeling that these Bobcats will figure out how to bring home the hardware.

I'd love to beat Miami for the MAC Championship.

I would really hate to lose to Miami for the MAC Championship.

Losing it to BG would not bother me, anymore than just regular losing.

So I'm torn, but given our long history of failure in Detroit I will say BG. It would be really hard to stomach watching Miami celebrate a championship.

In the preseason one of the mental footnotes I made is the MAC schedule. Ohio didn't have to play BG and NIU while Kent, Akron and Buffalo all on the schedule. My thinking was that schedule might be enough to turn a 6-6 season into a 7-5 or 8-4 type ceiling. I was at the Syracuse game and I thought 8 would be the ceiling for this year. But now the team is tracking toward 10 wins being favored against Ball State and probably in a bowl game the way those are usually set up.

That said for the MACC the Cats aren't going to be favored against BG or Miami. BG will travel better to Detroit and they have more vulnerabilities. Revenge against Miami would be sweeter though so I'd opt for them but regardless happy to be there.
