You may be right. However, his fiancé will be in Athens next year, so why change schools? If I were in his shoes I would rather go the CFL rather than another school. He's guaranteed a chance in the CFL and would make money in the process. The only reason to transfer to another school is to improve his chances of getting an NFL look. He may be able to do that by going to the CFL without as much risk.

Are you certain his fiancé will be in Athens next year? She already said this is her last year of volleyball so perhaps she's graduating early. I don't know but why forego senior year of volleyball?
I'd guess that she knows he is opening himself for the NFL and CFL draft. She knows that she is probably moving to Canada in the spring.
Best case scenario is he has a shot at CFL. NFL is not remotely possible after this year. He clearly is not 100 percent and his numbers showed a regression.

I wasn't aware she was foregoing eligibility. That actually supports a move elsewhere. He's projected to go higher than his brother did in the CFL draft. Transferring doesn't make that much sense.

Yeah, he was projected to be the #1 pick before this season. I'm sure that his stock has fallen but I'd be surprised if he can't make a roster. He has a pretty big advantage in earning a backup QB roster spot, Only something like 20 (IDK for sure) foreigners can be on a roster. He is very possibly still considered, not counting Nathan in the NFL, the best Canadian QB in college or currently in the CFL (I know there are usually hardly any even counting backups). I believe all of the starting QBs are Americans again since Nathan moved to the NFL.

I get the feeling he’s coming back. Maybe it’s because a Rourke has been at QB for nearly a decade now but it’s hard for me not to envision it that way. But I also didn’t realize he was engaged and set to get married in a few months. He’s way ahead of where I was at that stage in life at that age. Taking that into consideration I could see this being his final year. But until he states his decision, I still feel he’ll be back.

I live in North Carolina and buy 5 season tickets every year in the hope of being able to attend one game. I cannot for the life of me come up with one good reason to go to Myrtle Beach, only a couple hours away, to watch a team that is significantly different than the one that played this season. Why spend money on this? I’ve never liked the transfer portal, or at least what it has become. It seems to me you get a scholarship to play the entire season. We still have one game remaining.

As of 3:25pm yesterday, there have been over 1,000 football players that have entered the transfer portal.

That's over 2,100 since the end of the season on Nov. 26.

Rourke reportedly has been practicing with the team, including yesterday.

I expect Rourke to play in the bowl game, then go to the CFL.

I would be surprised if he returned to Ohio. I would be shocked if he entered the Transfer portal.

Nothing would surprise me, but the amount of QB's in the portal made his jump into the portal seem less likely. He'll be a top pick in the CFL. Go get healthy. He'll get his shot in the NFL, just like his brother - who after last night, his time might be coming.

This bowl game might be VERY interesting now. Navarro and Ricky Hunt ready to roll?

So refering to my previous post, why would anyone pay money to watch what amounts to a spring game?

Ha! I feel like that sometimes myself. Call me crazy, but this bowl game has suddenly gone from being something I had no interest in watching to one that I'm now actually looking forward to seeing with all these new faces in prominent roles. Let's face it, these somewhat meaningless bowl games are glorified scrimmages. That's about how this ones is going to end up being. Fitting end I guess.

Let's all keep something in mind. Entering the portal doesn't always mean the end. Some guys end up back at their schools if the schools take them back. I'm not saying that's a popular result, but it does happen.

Oddly, yes.

Dust off the 4th and 5th stringers, time to see what we have for next year.

I think Kurtis is gone either way. As for the others, who knows? However, I bet all of the others knew he was leaving and thought it was a good time to move on.

I actually hope Rourke lands at a big-time program. I'd love to see what he can do at that level. That's something even his brother didn't get a chance to do when he was still in college. What more can he achieve at Ohio? He's already won the most prestigious award in the MAC. Best of luck to him. I can't wait to see where he might land. He should have a number of options to choose from.

I actually lost some interest. There are going to be so many portal additions that I think watching third stringers will be irrelevant.

This.

I dont know them personally, but I do think OU means a lot to this family and Kurtis wants to go out on a high note. Not announce anything prior to his last game. Certainly not sit out this game. One more round for the Wigs and Rourke Show.

I spoke too soon.

Rourke in the portal as a grad transfer.

Still think he ends up in the CFL. Probably just seeing what offers are out there, just in case.

Nathan's salary in the CFL was $65k. A good salary for your average college graduate but nothing in comparison to what he's getting now in the NFL. I suspect Kurtis could go be the backup at a P5 school next year and easily earn twice as much than if he went pro in the CFL. Even after sitting a year he would still be a highly sought after draft prospect in the CFL. I expect to see him transfer.

This just means we'll unepexctedly find ourselves in the 2024 MAC Championship game next year and lose by 10, as is our destiny.
