I'm tracking we've lost 24 to the portal. I can't imagine many other teams have been hit harder then the Bobbies as far as starters/impact players. My god we've lost the entire offense LOL. Oh and not to mention those we lost to graduation (Wiglusz, Bryce, etc.) and the random situations like Kobi Gorman. Going to be a very interesting year.

Prob should add Gundy too.

As for number of scholarship players, we aren’t anywhere near Top 30 nationally.
Exactly! We are actually normal.

I'm left wondering if at some point I will become numb to the new reality of college football/basketball.

Yeah, I think we were abnormal last year in how little we lost. But more players transfer down than up and I think we are going to be quite abnormal this year in terms of how many players we have that transfer up. I haven't done any research to back up that claim so take it for what it is worth.

Well Texas A&M, Arizona State and Oregon State come to mind. But you don’t even have to leave the MAC, where Toledo lost QB DeQuan Finn (Baylor) and MAC POTY Peny Boone. Boone is one of the ones I was referring to. He transferred from Toledo to Louisville but is already shopping for his fourth school for the fall, as he went to Toledo after not getting PT at Maryland.

Production wise think about this.

Lost Starting QB + Backup (Rourke, Harris)
Lost Top 2 Running Backs (Bangura, Allison)
Lost Top 4 WRs (Wiglusz to graduation, Jones, Cross, Walton)
Lost Top 2 TEs (Kacmarek, Foster)
Lost Starting OL (Danneker)

I haven't crunched the numbers as far as production lost to the portal / graduation but I'd imagine it's somewhere above 75%

Allison is back for a seventh year. I wouldn't say anyone is lost until they actually sign with another school, so Harris and Jones are in a limbo.

I like Hunt's potential far better than Bangura, then Allison and the N'western transfer together and running back looks great. I just hope the rest of the offense can provide enough balance to give them room to work.

According to his X post, Allison is headed to Austin Peay.

Genuine question because I don't know, what is Gundy doing? is he enrolled at Ohio right now? is he technically a college student at all? I know he re-entered only a week into January or something along those lines

Lost:
Top 2 QBs: DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State) and Aidan Chiles (Michigan State)
Top 3 RBs: Damien Martinez (1,236 yards…still in portal), Deshaun Fennick (grad) and Isaiah Newell (still in portal)
Top 3 WRs: Silas Bolden (Texas), Anthony Gould (grad), Jesiah Irish (grad)
Top 2 TEs: Jack Velling (Michigan State), Carter Newman (still in portal)
Four Starting OL: Tanner Miller (MSU), Haneli Bloomfield (grad), Jack Levengood (grad), Taliese Fuaga (grad)

And…

Top kicker: Atticus Sappington (Oregon…OUCH!)

Saw on a OSU thread a few months ago he was back on campus (makes sense bc obviously his dad is there and his family lives there, so it may mean nothing at all) and people thought he might be trying go into a grad assistant type role either there or somewhere else. Haven't seen anything since. Portal still shows him without a school.

It's also easier to replace those lost for Oregon State, just saying. Seems like we are relying more on FCS/JUCO/D-II players with upside. I have absolutely no idea how much NIL money we have but I'm sure it's easier to entice those at lower levels to come to Ohio then a backup/3rd stringer G5/P5 players who's looking for $$$.

Kurtis Rourke QB
CJ Harris QB
Sieh Bangura RB
O'Shan Allison RB
Quintell Quinn RB
Bryce Kitrell RB
Miles Cross WR
Jacoby Jones WR
Tyler Walton WR
Keegan Wilburn WR
Aramoni Rhone WR
KJ Howard WR
Will Kacmarek TE
Tyler Foster TE
Alec Burton TE
Kurt Danneker OL
Justin Holloway LS
Bradley Weaver DE
Rayyan Buell DL
Keye Thompson LB
Tristan Cox DL
Ben Johnson S
John Motton S
Toby Adensaya CB
Prob should add Gundy too.

As for number of scholarship players, we aren’t anywhere near Top 30 nationally.
Exactly! We are actually normal.
Please name a couple teams that lost this much offensive production on the offensive side,
Well Texas A&M, Arizona State and Oregon State come to mind.

I agree on the RBs. I also like Coleman Owen and Chase Hendricks to be just fine as wideouts and Mason Williams as a TE. I heard Bruno was better than his stats at Tight End also. And think about our line, it's almost all back with the addition of Cisse from Idaho.

Again though, Allison is gone. So there is a one-two punch at running back but question marks behind them.

That's pretty much the same as last year, though, right? Last year we had McCormick and an impressive freshman (Hunt). This year we have McCormick and an impressive freshman (Brune).

You may be forgetting Nolan McCormick at RB. Nolan played well in the Myrtle Beach Bowl and had plenty of reps the season before.

I feel bad for Phil Steele.
We need a like button for this type of post. Steele does an incredible job. But not sure how you can deal with this.
Who cares, he's followed by incredible college football minds like Melissa Joan Hart.

Dontay Hunter II offered by Michigan.

Kinda shocked. Don't even remember him contributing that much.

Edit: five tackles, 2 Tfl, zero sacks in seven games played in 2023. Head scratcher.
