Any word on Northwestern RB transfer Anthony Tyus? No mention of him today.

Does "The Insider" have any inside information?
Rodarte not mentioned either, both still listing themselves as Ohio commits on their Twitter bios FWIW. Maybe both are completing semesters at current schools?
From the Northwestern website:

Status: Graduate

Years remaining: One

Northwestern's running backs room lost some of its depth as power back when Anthony (Tre) Tyus III entered his name in the transfer portal. Tyus was Northwestern's short-yardage back and had carved himself a niche in a crowded backfield behind starter Cam Porter and alongside speed back Joseph Himon II.

Tyus's best season was 2023, when he finished with 50 carries for 238 yards and a touchdown. Some of his best performances were six carries for 63 yards against Nebraska and 10 carries for 40 against Iowa, a performance that needs a multiplier when you factor in Iowa's defensive excellence.

Tyus, a four-star prospect out of Portage (Mich.) Northern in 2021, had 114 carries for 483 yards and two TDs in his career as a Wildcat, and added 10 catches for 81 yards and another score. He also earned his degree in just three years.

Hope to shit they don’t have him in blocking if we have two 230 pounders.

I think we could run the Super T formation with McCormick, Hunt and Tyus in backfield, and then with Navarro as a run-first QB, the offense would not have the slightest idea who was going to run the damn ball. Do our coaches have the creativeness to do something like this? I think it could be devastating.

The flip side is that if Ohio has all their offensive players in the box, all the defenders will be there, too. If you have a QB that can throw the ball competently, and Navarro can, then every receiver gives the defense another offensive threat they need to be concerned about, and that forces them to spread out and cover the field, creating more space to run.

Exactly, the Run & Shoot, which many mistaken as a pass first offense, was actually designed to empty the box and create running lanes. Also developed in Middletown, Ohio.

This discussion reminds me of my high school days under Coach Bill Wilkins, long ago inducted into the National Football Foundation's Hall of Fame. We ran a single wing - most of the time. On occasion our QB Bill Baldridge (went on to a career in college coaching) would move under center and we'd split our two ends wide. That worked nicely as in our senior season Bill threw a dozen TD passes.

Love the Single Wing, nothing better to me then watching a well run Single Wing or a Tubby Raymond Delaware Wing-T. Oh hell, I love watching any real offensive system.

Would like to see us reach out to Cameron Peters. Jumped into the portal in January. Doesn't look like he's signed anywhere yet. Though he would be coming into his Jr year academically.

6"4" 210 - Originally enrolled at UTSA. Didn't play. Went to Kilgore JUCO last season. 8-1 as a starter. 2100 yards passing. 400 yards rushing. 31 total TD.

#1 in pass efficiency in JUCO.
#2 in pass TD (26)
Just 6 INT.
#4 in pass yards per game.

Took ZERO sacks.
Can run. 40 yards rushing per game.
7 TD.

trying to get my head around this math. He would have been a 2020 HS graduate if his senior season was 2019. So he has been out 4 years, and is a Jr academically?

Maybe he took a year off. Kilgore lists him as a sophomore.
So perhaps..

He enrolled in 2020 and was on the roster in 21. So not sure what’s up. Doesn’t matter, I was just trying to figure it out from curiosity

Saw Quintell Quinn committed to Texas Southern (FCS), although he's not listed on the 2024 roster.

Any word what Keegan Wilburn is doing? Wouldn't be upset to have his return ability this season.

So for those who actually track this stuff. Anyone have a breakdown of where our transfer portal people are? How many went up, lateral, down, and out?

I do not have a break down but according to the start of this thread we had 7 go up. Have we ever had that many? I believe we recruited all 7 from high school too.

On offense two TEs went to Oklahoma State and Ohio State. A QB and WR went to Indiana. A RB to Minnesota and OL guy to Baylor. A LB to Pitt. That is seven power fives and I could be missing a player. Not certain about a few others.

From what I can gather, Rhone, Allison, and Tristan Cox are without a team.

Ouch. He was a projected starter. DT/NT has been seriously depleted by losses. In addition to losses from using up eligibility, in the last couple of years, Ohio has also lost Rayyan Buell, Kobi Gorman, Gino Williams, Tristan Cox, Denzel Daxon and Kylan McCracken.

Full court press on 6'3" 295 DL Anthony Johnson from Illinois/(half dozen other places).

Played at YSU, went to Illinois looking for a starting role... apparently didn't see much after the spring game.

“I could see it the last couple of weeks. There were guys playing, right, that I don’t know if he saw himself getting that starting role,” Bielema said. “I get it. The guy has got one year left. Asked him to kind of thing about it but totally understand where he’s coming from. So he quit, moved on.”

Burn.

Former 4-star from Pittsburgh. Currently the #27 D lineman in the portal. Final season at YSU Johnson tallied 25 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four sacks.
