I’m honestly expecting us to be good again next year. Expect us to compete for the MACC, but Miami will be a tough one. I expect we will pick up at least 2-3 P5 transfers in the second portal window too.
Oh, Ohio is going to be good next year, you can believe that. OU will compete for the MACC, but it'll will be interesting to see if Ohio avoids the UT/NIU/BG pod. If so, get past Miami and it's off to Detroit. But I disagree that this team needs a few P5 transfers. With all the new transfers already brought it, this team needs to work on gelling and building chemistry with all the new faces that were already brought in to go with the returners. This is as heavy of a transfer flow that Ohio has ever seen. It's now time to start putting all these pieces together to find out what works best.
Oxford is such a dud as a town. A real zero compared to Athens.

Fiami is a good school, I have to admit...but the town sucks imho.

For those players still in the portal, wasn't the first window set up in December for the purpose of players having time to find a new school before the start of the new semester? And hasn't the new semester started at most, if not all, colleges and universities? So, this situation begs the question, what are these players doing without a new school on Jan. 21?

Or has this new system completely made academics an afterthought?

A very good question. If they gave up their scholarship when they jumped into the portal, are they out of school now? Or, is it risk free for them, where they can still have a scholarship for the spring, but no longer have football practice obligations?

Once a player enters the transfer portal, the program no longer required to honor the player's scholarship and the remaining time is voided.

If they're here and going to school, they're paying curtesy of Chase Bank.

Thanks. That seems completely fair. The players that didn't have offers before the start of the Spring semester can stay home and continue to work out, and look for their next position.

Christian Hilton has stepped away from the team would’ve had 3 years left. As well as Dylan Stevens and Nife Osani both decided to not return after graduating both would have 2 years of eligibility left.

I'm really excited about the WRs. The group seems to check all the boxes at least on paper. Considering all we lost to the portal, the staff has done a really great job!

Jacoby Jones, Chase Hendricks, and Rodney Harris

3 Transfers who will make an instant impact (Charles Ross, Coleman Owen, Max Rodarte)

3 Highly touted incoming freshman (at least for Ohio standards)...Dorwart, Hurst and Thompson

As previously mentioned, the only major gap to fill will be getting another RB.

Love Rodarte and Coleman. Pretty similar in build to Sammy. Rodarte had 2K+ yards in JUCO.

Jalen Hammer was a JUCO beast as well. Has the Butte College TD rec record.

Christian Hilton. Kind of an unknown, but spent all last season in the program. Should be ready to go this season.

Agreed! Receiver room should be strong in 2024! Albin has done a good job recruiting. Really good group of incoming players. Tyler Walton and Miles will be missed, but I can’t say the room be will any worse than last year. I almost look at Jacoby as a “transfer” coming in to replace Wislusz! LOL

He must have learned that he would be getting less NIL money than at Oklahoma state.

He has free schooling at OSU, his daddy has a mullet and millions of dollars--He doesn't need NIL money. He's turned down MAC scholarships in the past to stay in Stillwater. He's a local HS star and has all of his friends nearby. I'm guessing he just got homesick and is headed back to OSU.

So, in one portal window, Ohio has lost two quarterbacks to P5 schools. One to the big 10 (Rourke to Indiana) and one to the SEC (Gundy to Bama).

It’s on the internet, so it has to be true.

That leaves only RB as an area of concern for me. Hunt will be great, but I would like to see more depth behind him. Sometimes depth at that position is important. It was only two years ago that Jake Neatherton, who had retired, put his uniform back on to help out when there wasn't enough depth at RB.

OK, I'm happy now. Anthony Tyrus is transferring from Northwestern, where he was the #2 back. That gives Ohio 3 RB that we know can play, which should be enough that Ohio will be fine, and not so many that some don't get carries.

Kicker Jacob Lewis, who entered the portal from Minnesota with a stop at Ball State prior to the Gophers, is now on the roster. So it appears to be yet another transfer addition.
