Tyler Foster now in the portal.
Interesting. Another one that surprises with eligibility left. Classy move on his part to play yesterday. We'll miss him, but Kacmarek is an absolute beast. We'll be OK.
My bet is Kacmarek will be in the portal before the winter deadline ends.
I've heard it's very likely.

The thing to keep in mind is that this isn't just an Ohio thing. The whole of college football is being turned upside down. The best players in FCS are trying to move up. The best of G5, and lower tier P5, too, probably, are looking to move up for NIL money. Meanwhile, non-starters in P5 and G5 are looking to move down to get playing time. Things will sort themselves out in time, but what the new norm will be, I have no idea. It won't look like it used to, that's all I know.
The vicious cycle that is the transfer portal. Makes you wonder if we will get better HS recruits because other P5/G5 school will be focusing more on portal players.
Think that’s how Rickey ended up here.

I’ve heard the same thing that he is gone. Will have Mason Williams and Bryce Butler back. But who knows how mason williams will be after a complete knee repair and Butler is used for mostly blocking. Two TEs are supposed to early enroll this January with one coming off of a shoulder surgery. We will definitely pick up someone in the portal in my opinion.

I count three TE in the incoming freshmen. AJ Miller and Nick Segarra are clearly tight ends, but I think Miles Cremascoli will also, ultimately be a TE. His 40 time of 4.71 is very good for a TE, but low for a WR. I see him like the Leurhman twins, as a tall WR in high school who will spend his first year or two in college adding bulk for the TE position, but who will become a very good receiving TE.

Miles Creascoli 6-4, 208
AJ Miller 6-4, 220
Nick Segarra 6-6, 225

OL Arter has changed his mind.

He’s out of the portal.

In my opinion, Ohio Football is making lemonade out of lemons relative to the portal. They are able to recruit good, under-the-radar, players out of HS. They play behind good players who leave Ohio early through the portal. The recruits then move in and have the opportunity to take advantage of the system in the same way. I hate being a “minor league developer” but I’m impressed with their making what looks to be a disadvantage a strategic advantage. …or maybe I’m giving them too much credit and it’s just a coincidence…either way…Go Bobcats!

Sieh Bangura tweeted about 45 minutes ago that his recruitment is closed. Signs seem to be pointing to him heading to Minnesota based off the comments.

Kurt is already piling the offers in. Texas A&M is a big one a lot of nil money down there.

That's great to see Kurtis and Miles together at Indiana but man, I didn't realize how bad Indiana has been over the years. They've only had 1 season with 8 or more wins in the past 20 years. Yikes

As I pointed out on another thread, the situation at IU will be interesting, as their offense has been hit really hard by the portal:
Starting QB: Sorsby
Three of the top four rushers: Sorsby(QB), Howland, Lucas
Two of three starters at WR: McCulley, Camper
LT: Starter Smith and the #2 Sales
C: Starter Carpenter
RG: Starter Bedford
RT: Starter Benson

So far, at least, they still have their starters at LG, TE and one WR spot (if they have eligibility left)....

Only team in FBS with 0 bowl wins this century.

Think they haven’t won since the early 90’s.

Good for Miles but we can see why Indiana is so bad. If Jacoby was healthy Miles was our WR3. Now he's on a Big 10 team?

I also need to know when Kurt Danneker became a Big 10 blocker because I sure as heck didn't see it this year.

Kurt is a good player. Can't argue 2023 wasn't his best work. It is interesting how much the running game opens here when the QB is a threat to run. That being said GA Southern is terrible.
Hard to argue with too many of these kids trying their luck elsewhere. With so much eligibility now even I would struggle being in Athens for seven straight years. The killer was Bangura, Cross and to an extent Foster. All the other guys I understand.
I have no idea what Early Signing Day looks like. It is just so easy for these kids to jump ship. Biggest issue I have is them being actively recruited while they are still on rosters. Just seems dirty to me. Once they declare it's game on but not until that point.

Mason Williams looked legit in the few games he played. Also have a few stud TEs in the 2024 recruiting class.
Metz has done a really good job with that room. Luehrmans played a ton of football. And then Foster and Kacmarek picked up the torch. And the next group (Williams, Butler, 2024s) is waiting in the wings. No wonder Albin made him the recruiting coordinator.

That happened even while the mandatory sit-out year was still in place. It's just a lot easier to pull the trigger since the first transfer you don't have to sit out anymore.

ESPN published a list of the top 75 players that entered the transfer portal this year - available to ESPN+ subs.

Kurtis Rourke is listed at 54, while Indiana’s starter last year that is transferring to Cincy is ranked 73.

Let us all not forget - there was a school we all know and love that was one of the most downtrodden programs in all of D-I not so long ago. It was know for having a nice campus, in a cool town, with a good basketball program and a horrible football program. Sound familiar? Yes, I’m talking about Ohio, and you can say the exact same thing about Indiana now. Prior to the Grobe/Solich eras, Ohio football was pretty putrid. Losses piled up year after year and bowl games were all but wishful thinking. But it doesn’t have to remain that way. It takes a university/athletic department vision, a commitment to resources, hiring the right coach, and bringing in players that want to be part of the change. That’s exactly what happened at Ohio and what Indiana can be in position to do itself. IU is a beautiful campus and Bloomington is a cool college town. It’s always going to be tough to top hoops at IU but they have recently done major work on their football facilities and they have an outstanding stadium. They also went out and hired a coach who could be just the guy to put Indiana in much better shape in Big Ten football. I’ve literally watched this all unfold right in front of my eyes with Ohio (as some of you have as well) and Rourke and Miles have the potential to help jumpstart the same thing at IU. They both have a great opportunity to play Big 10 football at a very cool school and I wish them both the very best.

And as for the future, they just got an commitment today from a 4 star QB.
