The article says that it's doubtful that anyone could have seen what was coming. To a certain extent I have to disagree. I'd guess Solich kind of expected it. He was quick to give AJ a scholarship, but even more telling is that when numbers were handed out, rather than giving AJ one of the numbers he requested, Solich insisted that AJ be given Solich's old number. I don't know if that is common, but this is the first time I've ever heard of that happening. That seems like the ultimate compliment to me.

+1

This was exactly my take when I heard that story on the video from AJ's hometown of Covington, Ohio. Solich saw something special in AJ. I believe there are a few other incoming players he is equally high on this year. Time will tell if he's right, but I think he's a very good judge of football talent, ability and skills -- more so than most of us on BA.

The article also says White and Patterson will be the other backs that get carries. Does anyone know if Irons is still in the mix and where everyone's at on the depth chart

From article "This year, the Bobcats' offense should work off Ouellette. Ohio has other backs - Patterson, White, etc. - to give Ouellette some rest and keep him fresh for the fourth quarter. He'll probably play with those other backs too, as Ohio has historically has used some two-back sets to keep defenses guessing. Patterson, in particular, compliments Ouellette well due to his speed."

Right now Mr. Irons is "etc." He has no stats. Brown & Irons are pretty good "etc" to be able to go to.

Why would you knowingly put up a quote that has no basis in truth, without qualifying that quote? Our use of two back sets? No.

I will find it extremely absurd if Irons doesn't get any carries this year. We need to see what he can do. Stop holding the reins back and let these kids play.I realize AJ is going to be a workhorse, but Irons is the one I want to see the most.

From an Arkley tweet today:

RB Maleek Irons showed great burst on several carries. He, Dorian Brown and AJ Ouellette all have strong-looking frames (every down types)

All three are fast, sturdy, and have great potential. Last year AJ held onto the ball, while Brown had issues, so AJ moved ahead of Brown, but I expect both Brown and Irons to get some playing time this year.
