That is a good one. I always liked this one just as much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GJfr0gSpeM&list=PLh02t53...

The 2 opening lines, are perfect for a team coming off a bye week

"I've been locked in this cage for the the last 13 days."
"Got a list full of names, now they're all gonna pay

BG was closer to having a bye week than Ohio. They hadn't played since Oct. 27th, so they had 11 days rest. Ohio played Miami on October 27th, then EMU five days later on November 1, then BG after another short week on November 6th. 3 games in 12 days is just not right. Fortunately the scheduling people have not done that again. The human body takes a certain amount of time to recover, and if you play too many games in a short interval, I think you're going to get extra injuries.

Wow - thanks for the trip down memory lane guys!

And for the record - I think my favorite starts at about the 9:10 mark here:

That was a special day.

I tried finding videos for certain games, but to no avail. Wish we had these:

2009 vs. NIU - surprisingly there isn't one, or at least I can't find it. I remember this one because LaVon took a punt return back for a TD. Has there ever been bigger back-to-back home games that meant more? After beating NIU, Temple came in the next week.
Nope - no video exists of it. Our cameras malfunctioned and we lost basically everything that night.... it was miserable and I hoped nobody would notice - and they didn't for 6 years until you just ruined everything ;)

Thanks for the reply! I knew there were probably some unforseeable circumstances that probably led to that. Of course Ohio just wouldn't put that video out there because they didn't want to. It was a big win.

BTW, we always appreciate the fine work you did and reminisce constantly.

Evan, I was in France that day. That night about 9:30 France time, I asked a French friend if I could log on to her computer. With the 6-hour time difference I figured the game had ended.

When I logged on, the first headline I saw read: Bobcats Top Lions.

I returned to the living room where the friend was chatting with my late wife. I kissed them both. Laconically, my wife said, "OU must have won."

Thanks for sharing the video and rekindling a very fond memory.

I have a small gripe about a couple of the home game promotions this year-

Sat. 9/12 v Marshall- GREEN OUT
Sat. 9/19 v FCS- PARENTS WEEKEND
Sat. 10/10 v Fiami- HOMECOMING
Sat. 10/17 v WMU- BLACK OUT
Tues. 11/10 v Kent St- GLASS GIVEAWAY
Tues. 11/17 v Ball St- BOBBLE HEAD

First, why are we having a GREEN OUT against a team whose colors are GREEN and white? We did this last year with the black out v NIU. It makes no sense. And why do a promo for the season opener (which always sells out), and for a game vs Marshall (which always sells out)? It seems like a waste of a good promotion to me.

Secondly, why are we doing the BLACK OUT promo for a Saturday game? According to the 110's calendar the WMU game is also Band Day. Are all of the HS marching bands going to wear black? If they don't we're going to have most of the East side of the stadium not blacked out. Again, it makes no sense.

Doesn't it make more sense to do the trinket give aways during those games? I like the idea of a Bobcat glass going home with some Marshall fans, and wouldn't the high school kids get more excited about the bobble heads? The green/black out promos are a good way to get the students to come out on a weeknight to be an active part of something, a trinket doesn't seem like a better incentive.

Maybe its just me but I think the timing of these promos was poorly planned.

Totally agree. It seems like the promos were planned before the schedule was even introduced. But the Green Out thing vs Marshall is just silly. It's actually silly altogether. White or Black work, but a Green Out won't do much visually for me.

The Blackout certainly feels wasted on a Saturday game. Think back to some of those awesome crowd shots from the 2011 Temple game on ESPN. We had to appear impressive to a casual football viewer unfamiliar to the MAC.

That was great a couple years ago but it's clear the blackout was a colossal failure last year (yes partially because of weather) and it's in danger of being a punchline if we don't get people in the seats this time.

Also green out for Marshall makes sense because this way OHIO fans are wearing green too. It's not cool when your colors are green and white and the greenest patch in the stadium is for the visitors fans.

I would say weather and season performance. The blackout saw great attendance in 2011 and 12 because we were well in contention and were facing the teams in our way. The 2012 game was one of the coldest I can remember but still had a solid turnout.

I think it's clear that if you want any sort of turnout from Ohio fans in November, we need to still be in contention for the MAC title. A promotion will not make a sizeable difference

The marketer in me would say they are pushing any trinket give aways to the game nights where the attendance might be lowest to try to put more butts in seats and sell more tickets.

I'm fine with that, in fact you could combine it and do a (color)out for the students and a giveaway to sell tickets, we need all the help we can get for the MACtion games.

These three pictures...

There was A LOT of promotion that went into that game from a lot of different groups. Athletics pushed it and the student body got behind it in a huge way. The student excitement for that game was very high. It turned into a perfect storm.

That 2011 squad was only 5-3 overall & only 2-2 in the MAC heading into that game but we also started 3-0 including that 44-7 blowout of Marshall at home which had campus loving that team. Plus, Temple had turned into a huge rivalry. Man, I miss that rivalry.

If OHIO can start strong in MAC play, WMU could be a similar key game to the rest of the season. WMU is not the rival Temple was, but if OHIO is in contention I think that'll be a huge crowd.
That Temple game propelled Ohio to win the final 3 games in the East and win the division. Bobcat Blackouts create momentum.

I agree the Blackout should be a MACtion game but looking at our schedule the home games just don't setup right. You don't want it too close to Thanksgiving and that WMU game just seems like the key game if we are doing solid heading in... While I get the game choice, I don't understand band day on that day at all. Different color bands plus the visiting bands aren't really into the game. It is kinda like the dad's weekend crowds in basketball. Big but not loud. I hope it gets changed.

P.S. The logo for this years blackout looks sweet!!!
